New Raintime cd "Flies & Lies"

This disc is outstanding. I'll definitely pick it up in May. :headbang: Raintime is one of the few bands that can effectively pull off the mix of clean and death vocals (Mercenary being another). I really like how the band can go from the brutal "Rainbringer" to the very melodic "Finally Me". I can't wait to see Raintime in October!:kickass:

Claus, does the Japanese version have any bonus tracks? If so, I may have to fork out the extra cash and seek it out. :)

Not to get off the Raintime thought line too far, but my favorite 80's cover is from Twilight Guardians (Sintrade) .... Madonna's La Isla Bonita. Now that is a great cover tune. To be fair to Raintime .. TG also placed their cover track a couple tunes prior to the end of the disc. Bendictum also placed "Heaven & Hell" in the middle of their disc as well. It's not an uncommon practice it seems. I still say .. put the cover tunes at the end, please !!

Britt

Oh man you ain't kiddin. That TG cover is really good.

I haven't had the chance to listen to the whole thing yet. I'll be buying it regardless. The first album was phenomenal and if this is just as good, it's a must get.

Oh, and the Michael Jackson cover is great. I love it.

I hear ya Glenn, it's just that I prefer the cover tunes to be at the end of a disc instead of near the middle.

The only time it works for me is when the cover tune is a virtual unknown track .. like say .. Mercenary doing "Music Non Stop" near the middle of the disc.

It's just a personal preference thing. I do like metal versions of pop songs, and I think Raintime pulled it off in this case pretty well.

The beautiful part with today's technology is you can reburn the CD in the order you think the tracks should be in :headbang:

Good point, Tony !! I'll have to do that in this case, as the song totally doesn't fit for me where it currently resides.

Britt

I agree with you on song order is important and sometimes the song order just doesn't feel right on certain discs, I end up doing this a lot of times when I feel a song fits better in a certain place. I totally agree with you on this one, it's an awesome cover but it fits better at the end.

Heh.....Thriller was the first album (yes vinyl) that I bought for myself way back when. While MJ isn't my cup of tea anymore there is certainly a good amount of nostalgia there. A solid metal cover of Beat It sounds like something I'd get a kick out of :)

And seeing as their first disc freaking kicked ass I seriously can't wait to get my hands on the latest.

Matter of fact, I like them enough to go see them live. I wonder if they're playing anywhere in the US this year? I have some free time coming up in October.......

l was simply drawing an analogy to the differences in opinion that we have...you hear one thing, l hear another. Of course, you couldn't grasp that. You on the other hand decided to make a personal attack out of it...which if l'm not mistaken is not the first time you've done this with me as your subject. l believe it's time a Mod got involved and spank your troll ass !
