New stuff (Toneport UX1, Bulb's disto, SD2.0)

id bring up the guitars just a little little bit
it sounds really really good (and the song is great)
id bring down the hihat 1 or 2 db
more info in the drums would be awesome!!! (especially the kick)

Weeeell thanks a lot for the kind words :)
About the Acacia Strain's "sludgy chugga chugga parts" :p; I guess it's a matter of tastes ^^
For the drums, I used SD2.0 original preset, just tweaked the snare a bit, that's all. EQd, compressed a bit (using Voxengo GlissEQ 2 and Blockfish) and "voilà".
Damn I knew the hihat thing would give me some troubles XD I only have one file for the crash, hihat, chinese and ride, I guess I'll have to split them up to get a better sound :p

EDIT: Aaand the same process for the rest of the drums (GlissEQ, Blockfish, and some Rverb, I forgot).
Oh and yeah, some Spitfish, on the kick, snare and toms. And that's pretty much it :)
I can make screenshots and/or give you the presets if you realy want to.

Nice song dude, i think the guitars could be louder...... or maybe the kick is just a tad to loud ,i dont know.
Patch would be cool , it sounds nothing like bulb on a first listen , to much eq on guitars aswell ?¿

Yeah, lots of EQ on the guitars XD
I'm not a great master of mixing, so I do everything by ear, and sometimes it sounds cool :)
I basically put a first EQ where I cut the highs, lows, and boost the mids (and cut the frequency where the fizz hides :p), then I compress with some blockfish, then I decided to throw some Spitfish just for the lulz and it sounded cool so I kept it, and finaly, a second EQ to clean everything up...
I've got lots of EQs in my mix, maybe too much XD

I like the loud kick, it's the only way I found to realy make it punchy as hell :p
I was planning to boost the mids a bit more for the guitars and lower them as well, what do you think?

The line6 tone is bulb's tone tweaked a bit, I'll post it later today.
Here's my SD preset, as you'll see, nothing very special, everything remains in the mixing.

SD Preset

Okay, here you go!

Kick ass song dude. And excellent work on the production too. It's REALLY fuckin heavy. I like it alot. Any chance you could give some more details about the drum routing, eq/compression setting etc. I'd love to know how you get such a beefy sound with S2.0. I loaded up your preset and it sounded absolutely nothing like what your drums sound like

Keep up the excellent work btw.

yes, i´d like to see your drums processing out of SD2.;)

Well firstly I put the velocity at max (except for the snare and hihat, which needs to be changed manually sometimes, to gain some "humanity" in the play).
I've got to say that all my samples are done with FLStudio (I installed my VSTs here and as it works great I'm too lazy to learn how to use them with Cubase XD), so I have to load them first here, export in mp3 and load the mp3s in Cubase.
Long but safer for me :p
So, for the drums, I export 4 mp3s: Kick, Snare, Toms, Cymbals (and now Hihats too).
So here's what I do with the kick.

The Snare

Toms

Cymbals

Then I do some mastering (the 2 GClips have got the same settings).

And that's it :) The bass is hardcore bass, using the Fender Precision Bass Fingered, pads and stuff are Absynth 4 and orchestral instruments are GPO.

Hi..congratulations for the sound..amazing..first of all can u share the bulb's preset that you tweakrd a bit please?and last question, sorry, the mastering in the image link is the mastering that you apply to the send channel group of the drum right??only for the drum?thank you very much..

Thanks heaps for all the screenshots. It's really helpfull to see how you've achieved that sound. Any info about the overall mastering chain you used, coz that track is pretty damn loud and beefy!

Well actually the screenshot I sent shows the GLOBAL mastering (I don't master each instrument, I just master everything at the end XD).
In fact, I don't know if I can call it "mastering" because what I basically do is create a channel for each instrument, and then a group channel and I change the out in every channel to this group channel (which is called "Group 1")... I don't know if I'm clear enough XD
I just EQ and Compress each instrument, and then master the whole track with the chain I posted in my last screenshot :)
Sorry about the bulb preset, I saved it on my other computer, so I need to get it there and I've been too busy today to do it, I'll do it tomorrow I promess :)

Hey great tune and great tune man!!!

What freq did you cut to get rid of the POD fizz??

Hi again and sorry for the looooooooooooooooooooooooong time I took to respond, but I've been realy busy these times, new drummer in my band, wrote some new songs... Anyways, nobody cares, here's what you were waiting for:

My distortion preset, based on Bulb's one.

I also changed the mix a LITTLE bit, but I think that it sounds much better now.

As always, advices are more than welcome!

Well, one done, 16 left to do...
Gotta get back to work!
