NEW SYLOSIS SONGS - EPIC THRASH STUFF

J. DavisNJ:
For scales I use pretty basic stuff, Aolean most of the time (i've probably spelt that wrong haha) and the harmonic minor modes. The solos probably seem more interesting scale wise as they all have key changes in them.

joeymusicguy:
Thanks!!! haha
cheers man

MY GOD! I don't have any plugins for string sounds or anything so I used my old shitty Yamaha £100 keyboard plugged in and recorded as audio haha, sounds SOOOO shit, to make the strings sound better I EQ'd em, covered them in reverb and played every single melody part in seperatly and they're all panned differently, no chord voicings used. Then loadsa thunder samples....they're everywhere in that song, it's totally cheesy but whatever haha

Cool man, thanks. You're a sick player, I wish I was at your level. I'm in a bit of a rut as far as approaching soloing and such. Any reccomended books? I've got the Govan books, but haven't been able to look at them as much as I want due to school.

Nice one mate, I wouldnt of guessed it to be something so simple, good stuff.

Sound great!
Good sounding cabs those xxx ones, much better than 5150 cabs.
i'd say to tell jamie to watch out for those "yeow" screams as they r very very howard from killswitch and u dont wanna just get branded the british killswitch u know? u guys have much more to offer than that (much better lead work and more intricate riffs than kse for a start) but u know what reviewers r like.

Cheers dudes!

I hear what you're saying Descent but we love high screams and it's litterally just how he sounds, not a bad person to be compared to but we defo dont wana be seen as metalcore. You're right though, being the british kse wouldn't be fun.
Jamie can do such awesome impressions of john tardy from obituary and phil anselmo...guna try n get some more of that shit happening haha

Everyone should check out Scotts Atkins (ex stampin ground) production. He gave me some helpful tips and seriously rules. If/when the time comes to do an album and we can't get andy sneap then he'd be my next choice (if it was all down to me anyways haha)

His recordings of Divine Chaos (AMAZING uk thrash) are unreal

Shit sorry Ross! Duno why I didn't twig who you were.
I remember emailing you when I was 16 about auditioning for Descent!
Saw you guys back at the BDM show at the underworld, was awesome.
Your lead guitarist had some seriously low vocals goin on

Josh all the songs sound great as I've said before.

Question, where approx is the Shure placed in regards to the center of the speaker?? did you have to mess with mic placement A LOT until you were happy with the results? Also, how far from the grill and how many rhythm tracks?? Thanks mang,

-Joe

Yo josh. you guys should organize a big gig with the DC boys. you're both pretty swish live so it could go down well... Have you seen them play before?
