I've been surfing this forum now for a solid few months and it is a gold mine for info on this stuff. That being said I could use some pointers for this mix that I am working on. It's the one entitled instruMENTAL.

i think it's a decent mix, but it sounds like you're clipping the whole mix with some compressor or limiter. if you're going to compress the whole mix, try a faster attack setting with a slower release.

Yeah it's really fatiguing to listen to, I'd try backing off on the compressor.
