New Trivium Song

I dig it, but then again I am a fan of everything they have done. I like how they change it up from album to album (Though Shogun was probably my favorite). I never understood the hate for this band on many metal forums. I understand that people might not like this band, but just how venomous the hatred seems to be at times always took me back.

This promo photo has always and will forever plague this band:

Let me guess, because Heafy is wearing the shirt of some supposed tr00 metal band that does not sound like the band he is in, some myopic metal fans think he is a "poser" or this is a calculated ploy to sell albums to metal fans?

Could it be true? I guess. I have read interviews and it seems that his personal metal tastes are quite varied, I know he covered an Opeth song recently. If this was a ploy to somehow endear himself to the metal community to sell albums, that does not seem like wise strategy since it would net negligible album sales at best. And likely those same tr00 metal fans would not like their sound regardless (in addition to being annoyed that it was not released on a 7 inch with shitty production. :) ) <--- For the sake of those that might be a bit defensive about their favorite genre of music, the last statement was meant as a joke to lighten the tone of the post. Any offense or implied offense real or perceived to people that listen to such metal is preemptively apologized for 1000 times over. :D

Or maybe he was just wearing a shirt of a band he likes and the fact that that would somehow lessen someone's enjoyment of their music just shows what a brain-dead lot the metal community can be at times. Who knows? Since we can't possibly get inside his head and know objectively whether he is a "tr00" fan of that band, why assume the worst or somehow "plaugue" their career with it?

I love how this has become the default defense whenever anyone has anything bad to say about the Triviums and the Chimairas and the Lamb of Gods of the world. Bravo!

So the smiley face was not enough of an indicator to tell you that I was joking about that part? Let me go back and edit the original post for you. I am glad you are doing a great job to dispel that myth about certain metal fans taking themselves a little too seriously.

LOL - You just proved my point tenfold.........

The bottom line is there are MANY metal fans who gave them a TON of crap when that pic was released. I think this was the promo pic they used for Ozzfest in 05.

I couldn't care less either way. Musically I just don't care for them.

The only thing about this pic that bothers me is how staged it looks, even if it wasn't.

Never cared for Trivium. I never understood why they get so much hype, they just don't strike a chord with me (no pun intended).

Given the band in question, I'd say sevenfold is a better estimation. Aren't you supposed to be good at math?

Was that a Jewish crack????????? :Smokedev:

Hey, all I am saying is these were the comments going around online back then. I have seen them once at Ozzfest around this time and remember seeing a video or two. They definitely have talent. I just can't do the whole "we can't decide vocally if we want to be core or metal so we will try both"

I remember that promo photo was used underneath the headline "The Next Metallica" in every fucking magazine ever, which I think was far more offensive than the photo itself ha ha!

I'm willing to bet there are bands that have had as staged of a photo as this that you love. Tons of bands do this; I really don't give a damn.
