newamp. :)

i think i love that band after hearing that song. whats the recording for? full length? and im getting a rev jr now. thanks :)

*I'd love to have to of 'em and take them on the road with me because I'm a lazy ass and I'm tired of always having to take two full-sized tube-amps with me that each weigh about 25kg*

Two questions:
- Seriously ... is that thing loud enough to be played live (small clubs - maybe even without a PA?)
- do you get a signal out of the preamp when only on standby (for recording with impulses)?

Joe, about its volume

It is loud! and id deffo say loud enough for any band rehersal, however, the more you turn it up, the more it compresses and the tone degrades, i did a clip a while back actually ill see if i can dig out the link for ya!

Awesome ... thanks.

Taken from my original thread Joe:

theres sound files all are the EMG81

RMP 1 files are all vol 12:00, active FX 12:00
RMP 2 files are all vol 3:00, active FX 12:00
RMP 3 files are all vol 2:00, active FX 3:00 (LOUD)

when recording them and looking at the wave forms, you can see how each naturally compresses (tube saturation/comp) into more of a steady wave form. below are the l channel of the 81 reamp, 1, 2 and 3 and you can see the natural compression on each of the lower end umphs:
