OK, I'm relatively new to recording (although I've tooled around with Cakewalk products for about 10 years, I'm only getting serious now). I've got Sonar Studio and I'm recording using a Schecter Synyster and a Line-6 Spider Valve mic'd with a Shure SM57. The interface is an M-Audio Firewire solo. For Bass and Drums I'm using MIDI plugins.
My problem is that the rhythm guitar sounds mushy and I'm not getting good "separation" between the lead and rhythm guitars. Below is a link to an intro of a song I'm working on.

And this is the sound I'm trying to get (first ~10 sec of "Children of Decadence" by Children of Bodom).

Any advice on how to get there? Thanks a lot.
