Gday. I'm sorry about my other post, I didn't realise it was in the wrong section. Anywy, again , I am a newbie needing reccomendations.

Try real metal. Although, the only problem with that is...

Most of the good ones fall into this category.

But there are plenty of great bands that aren't blatantly anti-Christian. Since you're into nu-metal, try some melodic death metal and/or stuff like that:

In Flames (you'd probably be drawn to their more recent material; I urge you to go back farther to their first five albums though)
Amon Amarth (melodic death metal; all about vikings n' shit)
Amorphis (melodic death/folk/progressive metal; try all their albums except Far From the Sun and Am Universum; give those a listen later if you want)
Borknagar (melodic avant garde black metal; try Quintessence, The Archaic Course, The Olden Domain, and Empiricism)

These are just off the top of my head, and there are tons more I could give you; but others will give you some too. Give these a listen and see what you think. You may very well find some lyrical material that you find objectionable in this music. As I said before, most good metal bands don't exactly write pro-Christian lyrics.

I was gonna ask that question too. Listening to Satanic, anti-Christian music is fun, im a Christian, who cares what i listen to.

Yea, seriously, I'm an atheist and have a lot of insults to sling at Christians...but I never thought of even thinking 'your deity is so emo as to be upset by certain genres of music', that just seems way too fuckin silly to me.

I agree with the 'get better taste' post, but these things take time.

a few fairly close to your existing taste, or otherwise very accessable:

Norther - Dreams of Endless War
Amorphis - Far From the Sun
Anthrax - We've Come For You All
As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse
Spineshank - Strictly Diesel
Devildriver - The Fury Of Our Makers Hand
Scar Symmetry - Pitch Black Progress
SuidAkrA - Signs For The Fallen
Charon - The Dying Daylights
Sentenced - Crimson
Blaze - Blood and Belief
Amon Amarth - Versus the World
Dark Tranquillity - The Gallery
Dark Tranquillity - The Mind's I
Hypocrisy - Abducted
In Flames - The Jester Race
Carcass - Heartwork (don't be put off by the name...they're vegans)

Fixed.

Judging from his tastes, I actually think he'd like newer Amorphis the best.

Did you like how I got Cryptopsy in there? I laughed my ass off about it. :kickass:

FFtS is 'newer', it's after their excellent DM days, and the least shitty of their last couple albums.

By newer I meant after the line-up change. And their two most recent releases are far better than the whiny, dark alternative sound that Far From the Sun and Am Universum had. They've actually gone back closer to their death metal days with Tomi.

Although the more that I think about it, he actually might like the "alternative" sounding stuff best. I'm biased because I don't really like it. But in my opinion, Eclipse and Silent Waters are far better than Far From the Sun or Am Universum.
