I'm excited for Myrath, Reinxeed, Circus Maximus, and Sabaton. I'll be looking to buy an album from many of the others in the vendors room today.
For those asking about Xandria, my understanding is that their new album is a change to very much an early Nightwish style, both musically and vocally. I've heard many people say that if you love "old Nightwish" and complain about "new Nightwish", then you'll love the new Xandria album (Neverworld's End) with the new singer.

Xandria is ok. I liked their previous (Ravenheart) singer. I also own Soilwork's Natural Born Chaos, but I heard they went downhill after that.
It seems like I'm one of the few that didn't know about Damnation Angels. What I heard in the hall before the announcement sounded good.
One band that isn't getting much attention in this thread is Heaven's Cry. These guys are from the early days of prog metal. I remember Ken pushing Food For Thought Subsitute at Powermad. Both of their albums from back in the day were very good. When they announced the new album, I wondered if Glenn was going to snag them. Glad he did.
Armored Saint has some interest for me, since I liked the guy when he was in Anthrax. Never picked up any of their albums, tho.

Again, no Falconer, what a surprise!! Would someone please explain if it has been tried to bring them over or does Falconer just refuse to do this festival? Also I think 2 headliners that would kick ass is Doro & Tarja. Bands I'd like to see that haven't done this festival are Grave Digger, Manowar, Metalium, Black Majesty, Ivory Tower, Axenstar, Tuatha de Danann, & Korpiklanni. Anyways this is a pretty good line up. Hope I can go to this one, I had tix for the '07 festival but couldn't go & had to sell the tix.

Saw 'em at ProgPower Europe -- the very first one -- in 1999.
Well, that's a lie. We couldn't see them because the smaller-stage room was packed, so after being dragged over there by one of the guys in Mayadome ("You've GOT to see these guys!") we stood out in the entry corridor and listened to the show. And were amazed. Bought that EP in the dealers room immediately afterward before the Junn Horde descended upon them and bought them all.
Call it six and a half weeks or so.
He's still definitely in the "god of promoters" firmament, though.

Shadow fucking Gallery! I'm so excited about this. First Manilla Road and Pagan Altar at MDF, and now Shadow Gallery at PP! I will move mountains to see this. I MUST see this. Soilwork's another old favorite of mine. Hopefully they play a lot from 'A Predator's Portrait' and 'Natural Born Chaos'. Cheers everyone!
I think given the circumstances that most second-guessing of the lineup should be tossed. I think most of us understand that it is hard to put together a lineup of this quality in such a short period of time.
The only worry I have about the lineup is that having Soilwork before Shadow Gallery will lead to a situation like the Blind Guardian/Pain Of Salvation thing where a lot of people are clearing the room after Soilwork goes off stage.

It will be the other way around for me i really can't stand soilwork so i will enter when they leave, i will be looking at merch then. I remember at 3 when BG and PoS switched time slots, i did stay and watch because it was my 1st ppusa,even though i never heard of them. They put on a good show but i did feel kind of bad by how many people left and didn't give them a chance.
