I downloaded a bunch of Nightingale songs because I heard Dan Swano was in it. From what I heard of him I was expecting something like Edge of Sanity or Dan Swano's "Moontower". I have to say I was surprised and entranced by Nightingale. I think it's much better then EoS (completely different, but still better).

Odd thing is I've never been so excited by music in a long time. I haven't listened to a song and thought: "I love this song. I want this album. I must have this album at all costs" since I heard Opeth for the first time. I impulsively ordered all three Nightingale albums online and the thought of holding them in my hands is enough to make me drool with desire.

I now have an admiration for Dan that is reserved for very few people (such as Mikeal Akerfeldt for example). I think Nightingale definitely isn't for everyone, but if you have a soul you will find something to like in their songs.

Nightingale are amazing. Their site is at:
http://www.mmz.ru/deadhouse/
MP3s are available there. And also here:

This is Dag's MP3.com page (he's Dan's brother, and plays in Nightingale. He often goes by the name Tom Nouga). Scroll down a bit and there are 2 Nightingale songs, recently remixed by Dan.

And go on over to the Dan Swano forum (here at UM if you didn't know), and look for the thread called "contest list". There is a bunch of MP3s made by some of us, doing covers of Nightingale songs (my one is the best, just so you know ;))

I can relate to your words Belial! But my love
didn't turn out as extreme )

I heard Nightingale for the first time yesterday
and I LOVED IT! Had to get more songs
immediatly! Have to listen more to this though,
then save up some money! >)

Also keep in mind, Nightingale newbies, that all three Nightingale albums (and the forthcoming fourth, woohoo!) have one continuous story that goes through them.

First album = Part II
Second album = Part III
Third album = Part I

Try as I might, I couldn't get into them... I dunno..

Something about Dan doesn't click with me. The music is good, he songs and roars ok. There are some great compositions.. But i'm just not blown away..

Dan not click!?!

As I loudly proclaim whenever I get the chance, both Dan and Devin click with me more than any other musicians.
