I just finished listening to 'Those Whom the Gods Detest' and I enjoyed it immensely, minus a few "chant" moments. I have a question to pose to all of you though. Would you consider Nile a band who consistently releases good material, or simply as rehashers?

Just noticing that ever since AotW their albums seem to just sound like continuations of each other, aside from production:

AotW:

Ithyphallic:

Those Whom the Gods Detest:

Seriously, just listen to each of these tracks from allegedly different albums. I still like the stuff because.....well....it sounds good, but this needed to be addressed.

Catacombs, Black Seeds and Shrines are all you need. I also like the In the Beginning release.

Best Nile----> Black Seeds of Vengeance

i still haven't read anywhere that they actually took a trip to Egypt. for a band that made a career out of a country/culture at least some charity events/shows for the country would have been nice.

fat, balding rednecks.

(although I am enjoying this last one more than their previous stuff. and when I mean enjoy, I mean I listened to it once)

Lol, Dung Incantation. That's automatically my all-time favorite Nile song ever.

But yeah, Black Seeds is the bestest.

Nile released another album?

I used to like Nile but they grew intolerably stale. The only thing I appreciate about them now is that they're from a crappy, small, Southern town. I find that amusing.

assuming Sanders an crew would want to, is that something that the 'authorities' in Egypt would even be receptive to? isnt metal heavily frowned on in the middle east? sure, we all know he's singing about ancient pharaohs and burning pits of dung incantations but it probably just sounds like infidel devil rock to them.

ok forget about playing in Egypt. At least go visit the pyramids and piss in the Nile. My druggie friend and his wife went for their honeymoon. Its a doozie.
