I'm trying to find reasons not to buy this amp.

I really dig the idea of its simplicity. And I like its voicing, much thicker (more bass and low mids, less fuzz) than the Fireball I think.

Sure, it's not versatile or powerfull, but I guess would make a great recording amp if your'e on a budget.

I see it's not that popular on this board. Anything bad about it that I might be missing?

PS: Intent is to be used for high-gain metal. Love dark / meaty / looser (not so tight) voicings.

Yeah, not sure you're going to dig it for ultra big metal rhythms BUT I've always wanted one for really super thick warm leads.

I have one and its a great all rounder but I just bought a Jet City 50 watter which has loads more character. Not quite as tight but I had live with that.

Bit of an epic thread bump! I know a guy who has one of these amps and it's pretty decent, not a million miles away from a 6505 actually. A bit dark though, to the point that if you use a darker guitar with it you can crank the treble all the way up and still not have enough brightness.

Thanks for resurrecting my necro-thread.

I was looking at the Thunder as a budget amp for recording. I have heard great tones from the combo. It is great for leads, that's for sure.

But right now (3 years later with the advent of oh-so-many budget options), I think the 6505+ 112 combo is a very tempting offer at only EUR 550. Made in China or not.

Pretty much yeah.

I've come across a quite good and natural demo of the combo:



I dig how it sounds very organic and smooth, even with the gain close to max. (from the 2:30 mark and on).

But I don't think that it's a 'metal amp' per se.

Slayer.Have you tried the 6505+ 112 combo?Did you compare it with the engl?

Sadly no, we have a Peavey dealer in my country but the Engls can only be ordered online.
