Noise Gate Segguestions

Hi fellow guitarists need an opinion on good noise gates? I am only aware of BOSSes and Rocktrons's pedals ala Noise Suppressor and HUSH but i get mixed reviews on both does any one know how are they? which is better? and do noise gates mess up your guitar tone?

Any disadvantages of noise gates?

The Boss NS-2 is awesome. Just have to set it right to not cut off the tails of held lead notes.

the ns-2 is great. i know tons of other guys in good reputable metal bands that can tell you the same.
