Or you can just eq the kick track to taste.
just notch out a spot where the click is most pronounced. Check anywhere from 3.5 - 5k, sweep it with an EQ, find where it really jumps out and then pull it down.
Don't know if it'll be exactly what you're going for, but sometimes I like to start with a really clicky kick, then compress gently with a really fast attack. It softens up the "click" while still retaining the EQ to cut through the mix.
Having a source that already sounds like what you're going for and slight EQ will sound WAY better than me EQ'ing it to make it something it isn't.
Not good enough. The only samples I have are Slate, and all of the high end spectrum is hyped. I tried LPing it, and it just sounds weird.

Ok you just kinda contradicted your own statement there
making a notch in something would still qualify as "slight EQ" wouldn't it?
and maybe try a high shelf instead of a low pass?
