Maybe if you write Tuomas and tell him you want the band broken up, he'll listen. It's not like he actually had any true involvement with the band. It was obviously Tarja's baby. You know... The woman who never participated in the writing of a song ever, didn't want to tour the US, wanted to cancel a sold out show to go shopping, and never even liked metal despite it making her career in singing possible.

I find her quite unattractive. However, on top of that, I do not like her vocals. I find Nightwish to be an enjoyable band to listen to... But eh... hard to top Tarja.

By the way, Marco of Nightwish is amazing. His band Tarot is ace.

Yeah...the samples I hear are great from Tarot. I cannot find and of their CD's here in Denver. On the net, they are still a little pricey because they are imports. I'll have to fork out the money though next time I buy a CD...better to pay more and get more, as opposed to pay less and never listen to the CD.

Fuck the 40 second preview....I heard the whole thing and IMO I think it sounds great, but the only bad this is how many layers of sound they put into the music it's fucking ridiculous

I downloaded it, it sounds like it has been ripped from a Disney sound-track. The new vocalist is good.. she has a rock voice though, not an opera one which will piss off a lot of people like our thread starter, however she will have a lot more commercial appeal then Tarja, so the band will likely take off from that perspective.

Moving on, Marco was a late inclusion to Nightwish and he does not write their music, he has a good voice and is a decent guitarist but Tarot is far from brilliant... I have the album, its nothing special, it is a typical half-arsed but personal to the artist side project that will appeal to fans but not be remembered in even a couple of years.

And that´s a bullshit. Tarot has been here since 86 and it´s albums are great Heavy Metal.

Been around since 86 or not, the album Crows Fly Black sounds half-arsed and is nothing amasing. Sure, it is more metal then nightwish but that does not make it less predictable or cliched goth metal, if anything it just makes it sound more like a poor mans version of a dozen other bands out at the moment. I liked the song tides, but really the whole album doesn't have anything special at all to it.

So you haven´t heard any other albums. Well that´s not theyr best anyway. But I recomed you would check `Suffer Our Pleasures` or two first one cos those are theyr finesth work.

Goth pop has more variation then you think, Goth Pop Metal is the best way to describe Type O Negative's October Rust. Sure, Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation and a bunch of other bands are starting to make it big due to Evanesense and a rising popularity with that sort of imagery but it isn't all black and white. Sure Nightwish are going to lose a lot of the originality that came from having a strong opera component and they will likely be popular because of it but that may not make them automatically bad.
