Can anyone post or supply links to translations to some of the following:

: Dimmu Borgir's For All Tid and Stormblast
: Any Burzum material
: Darkthrone's Transylvanian Hunger

Basiclly, any black metal that is in Norwegian. Thank you! :)

Of the lyrics I have seen translated (Bergtatt, some Burzum), they are quite awesome and magical. I enjoy lyrics of folklore, olden ages, etc.

I have only read some translations of the Hvis Lyset Tar Oss album and what I read was amazing. So of course, I want to read more of Varg's works (in English) as well as other lyrics in Norwegian.

Of course, there are some people that believe the lyrics should not be translated, but I am very interested in seeing what they are about.

Any of those retarded Norwegian bands (and alot of Finland and Sweeden) are just like so:

Of the dark forest moonlight pale skin, we bleed into the eternal darkness of the snowy mountains of satan.

When we rise to our throne of flame, we will once again become the blackness shadow of the fullmoon ravenlord.

My throbing warrior of Purple Helmet stretches beyond its human skin, and out of its earthly shell.
It tears through and jumps down onto the altar of power and satanic rituals, to be slid into the unshaven vagina of the unholiest moongoddess of the dark black blackness.

Det Som Engang Var

Imellom buskene vi stirret paa de
som minnet om andre tider
og fortalte at haapet var borte
for alltid...

Vi hoerte alvesang og vann som
sildret

Det som en gang var er nu borte
alt blodet...
all lengsel og sorg som hersket
og de foelelser som kunne roeres
er vekk...
for alltid...
vi har aldri levd

That Which Once Was

Between the bushes we stared at those
who reminded us of different times
and told that hope was gone
forever

We heard elfsong and running water

That which once was is now gone
all the blood
all longing and sorrow which ruled
and the emotions that could be moved
are gone...
forever...
We have never lived

----------------------------

Hvis Lyset Tar Oss

En aapning i skogen
hvor solen skinner
Hindret av trerne fanges vi
i denne guds appning

Det brenner det svir
nar lyset slikker vaart kjott
opp mot skyene en roeyk
en sky av vaares form

Fanget av begravelsen
pinse vi av guds godhet
ingen flammer intet hat
de hadde rett vi kom til helvete

If The Light Takes Us

An opening in the forest
where the sun shines
Prohibited by the trees we are trapped
in this opening of God

It burns it incinerates
when the light licks our flesh
Up towards the cloud a smoke
a cloud of our form

trapped by the funeral
we are tormented by the goodness of God
no flames no hatred
they were right we came to hell

---------------------------

Inn i Slottet Far Drømmen

Gjennom taakete daler
mellom dystre fjell
under graa skyer
mitt i svarte natt

paa en stolt hest
ifort svarte kler
sterke vaapen i haand

Uendelig med dode trer
en evighet av kulde
over stokk og stein
inn i skyggene...

Ut fra taaken
ut fra morke
ut fr fjellets store skygge
drommens slott...

da stopper rittet
som varte i en livstid
for herren gaar (Inn i slottet far droemmen)

Into The Castle of Dreams

Throughout misty valleys
between brooding mountains
under grey clouds
in the middle of blackest night

on a proud horse
dressed in black clothes
strong weapons in hand

Endless dead trees
an eternity of cold
over the hills (not a word-for-word translation, this is more in tune with the vernacular)
into the shadows

Out of the mist
out of darkness
Out of the mountain`s great shadow
the castle of dreams

Then the ride stops
which lasted a lifetime
for the lord goes (into the castle of dreams)

I could probably do a bunch more, after all it doesn`t take much of an effort. Just tell me which songs you want to do.

En Ring til å Herske

I en moerk skog med kalde tjern
Et sted hvor Herren av verdens
ild ikke rekker
I det moerkeste i den store
av natten - av tid
Og de samlet seg
og blev doedens hus
Barn av tidens krefter
Bran av den mektiges soenner

Vi staar i en sirkel av svart

One Ring to Rule

In a dark forest with cold mires
A place where the Lord of the
fire of the world doesn`t reach
In the darkest of the great
of the night - of time
And they gathered
and became the house of death
Children of the powers of time
Children of the sons of the mighty

We stand in a circle of black

--------------------

Snu Mikrokosmos` Tegn

Ingen stillhet her ute - en droem
Her hvor maanen raar - en droem
Jeg hater denne skog
hvor ingen fare truer
Ingen ulv
ingen bjoern
intet troll
puster
Ingen onde aander
ingenting
puster

Bare meg og natten -
bare meg og natten
En natt skal jag reise
til Helvete

Turn Microcosm`s Sign

No silence out here - A dream
Here where the moon reigns - A Dream
I hate this forest
Where no danger threatens
No wolf
No bear
No troll
breathing
No evil spirits
nothing
breathes

Just me and the night -
Just me and the night
One night I will travel
to Hell

Does this sate your curiosity for now? As you can see, these lyrics are nothing spectacular.

This is for the one who requested a translation of the Ihsahn interview. Just busting my English-chops.

Ihsahn - Black Wizard

Ihsahn. A familiar name among all Black Metal fans. The man does not need any further introduction and is widely known for his creativity and artistic merits. Until 2001, Emperor was the headquarters for his wrath. The band which stands as one of the most respected and influential Black Metal bands ever. To give a fair presentation of the bands glorious existence will need more than a few lines...
After the previously mentioned band was laid to rest, Ihsahn continued to give us musical goodies in the shape of the art-metal band Peccatum. The constellation, fronted by Ihsahn, Lord PZ and Ihriel, have three critically acclaimed albums on their conscience, and a new one is due out autumn 2003. I contacted Ihsahn for a chat about him as a person, a bit about Emperor and Peccatum, and Ihsahn answered all my questions willingly...

Your artistname is Ihsahn, a name which is easy on the ears. Is there any kind of history behind this? Does it have any special meaning?

The subjective meaning of the name is known by very few, while I guess the objective has changed throughout the years. For me it is just an artistname I`m satisfied with and used to.

Peccatum is your main band now. It`s been a long time since we last heard anything from you. What is new from you? I`m hearing rumours that you`re recording a new album...
That`s right. We`re working in studio right now, and we expect to release the record either late this autumn or early 2004.

What will the songs on the new record be like? Any chances since last time? Do you have anything you would like to reveal for the readers?
I would say that there are relatively major changes, but as always, going in detail is difficult. In general, the material is more contrasted, more musical and dynamic. We have also widened the musical palette a bit, but we still feel that the songs themselves are more wholesome. Did that give you a clear picture?

You were behind most of the lyrics for Emperor. In the lyrics, a fascination for mysticism and darkness shines through. Where does your interest for this originate from?
Metal has always been a part of the rebellion against the established, and I guess it has since the beginning had a tendency to drift towards the somewhat darker themes. Beyond the fact that dark, mystical lyrics suit this form of music, themes that concern; fear and the defeat of it, the darker/hidden part of human nature, and to express oneself in a at times mythical/overman perspective both interesting and effective. I also like to be able to express myself through metaphors and symbolicism, so that the genuinity of the "message" is kept without toll on that which is too personal.

A time ago, rumours abounded about a possible Black Metal band consisting of among others, you and Halford. Do you have any news about this? Do you ever think you`ll get involved in Black Metal again?
Concerning the rumours, I currently do not wish to comment them. Black Metal? Well, I do have the background I have, so that BM will appear in future work is guaranteed. If I`ll ever do "true" BM, is mostly unsure. Have I ever done it!?!

You have probably answered this question many times before, but anyhow: How do you see the Norwegian Black Metal-scene today as opposed to the early 90`s? The scene has gone from being mostly underground to experiencing constant exposure to publicity. Has Black Metal wholly benefited from this, or may it have lost some of it`s integrity on the way up from dark cellars and into the mainstream?

Firstly, I`m not very updated on what`s happening in the scene. Concerning underground/commercial? As long as it`s good music, I don`t see any reason for the genre to have any smaller place in international music-industry than other genres. The problem is, that in not-metal press, especially norwegian, it`s apparently difficult to write about BM without it getting a burnt aftertaste. That`s why I usually decline such interview. "It`s apparent that this is about the music, but you cannot get around..." -up my ass!!!

Today`s scene has kind of divided itself into two camps; the primitive and the "commercial". Any opinions?
I guess I think it is a great difference between retro-influences and retro-"tribute". The same with innovative/well-produced a and honed, easily available version for straight people that want to feel "a little freaked out"

The songs you compose are highly intricate, detailed and filled to the brim with contrasts. How do you go about when you compose songs? Where is the inspiration gathered from?

I write most often with the guitar as a starting point, but I can also work with synth-themes. In Peccatum we work a lot with each other`s themesand transfer synth/piano-themes to guitar and vice versa. In this way, one gets to use the instruments in new ways beyond certain patterns that one tends to get into. The common nominator I guess is that things immediately get into Cubase/Nuendo, which is our main utility for everything we write. A temporary programmed rhythmsection quickly gets into place, as does eventual arrangement-ideas. Often, the themes themselves give inspiration to new themes for the song, and from there you build progressively up, down and experiment/improvise! The work becomes a mixture of usual methods and departures from them.

Ihsahns guitar skills are of a high class. In addition to that he is an exceptional vocalist and singer, and is in possession of perhaps the most unique voice Black Metal has ever heard. He also plays keyboard. Are you an self-learned in all of this?

Some of both. I took pianolessons when I was young and I have attended a singing-pedagogue for some years i later years. As BM vocal is concerned, I guess it is Bathory`s "Blood Fire Death" which has been my teacher! On guitar I am selflearned, so to say, but you pick up a little here and there. I have never had any ambition of becoming a virtuoso on anything, but I have tried to remain diverse concerning song-writing, which for me is much more important.

What does Ihsahn do for a living? Does he live by the music alone? I have a friend in Notodden, who told me that you work in a sort of bandoffice in the city? Am I completely off track here, or...?
That is not completely right. I teach guitar at the school of Music- and Culture. Everyone in Peccatum work as music- or bandteachers.

You have achieved a lot as a musician, and you have managed to make a living out of the music. Are there still any visions or goals you want to achieve in your career?
I am a bit tired of being seen as a retiree just because Emperor is finished. I am 27, so I think it is a bit early to lay in the years. I have definitely been lucky, starting relatively early and experiencing this much. But still, it feels like I`m in the start of my career. There are always new projects and much to learn.

What do you like to do besides music?
I guess I am pretty one-tracked when it comes to music. If I`m not working on a new song, I relax with testing a new soft-synth or reading about new studio-equipment. Well, I do other things as well, but I do not have any hobby worth mentioning besides what has to do with music.

And now, for the unavoidable question; do you have faith in a reunion with Emperor?
No. It is, as previously mentioned, hard enough with people looking at me as retired, and it will be much harder if we are to reinforce the Emperor-nostalgy with a reunion. I am proud of what we did with Emperor, but now it is Peccatum and new projects which are important. I`ve never really been the retro-type!

Many thanks for the interview! Any last word for the readers of heavymetal.no before we stop?
Thanks for the interview! A new Peccatum-record is, as said, on it`s way, and there will be more from that camp in the years that come. IHSAHN HAS NOT LEFT THE BUILDING!!!

(* - "sel" is a swedish word refering to a calm place in the water where brooks meet which i failed to find any suiatble translation of.)

Oakenson, which Thyring song do you want translated?

Kivenkantaja means stonebearer. You will find in the booklet that Moonsorrow translates all of the Finnish lyrics to English. If you do not have the album...buy it! :D It is definitly my favorite Moonsorrow release.

As far as the Thyrfing lyrics, any translations from any of their Swedish material would be awesome. I guess if I had to choose, how about the Swedish songs from Urkraft? I also love their self-titled album, so anything from that would also be killer! Thank you!
