I've been listening to the Pagan's Mind disc a lot lately, too. It's definitely a good album. :)

I've heard a few tracks off of the new Disturbed album, and I must admit that, while I really dislike nu-metal in general, this sounds pretty impressive. I was surprised to hear that he could actually sing, and not rely on screaming badly the entire time. I did notice that he almost lapses back into the screaming on some tracks. :)

As for what I'm listening to now, I am thoroughly enjoying the new Symphony X. To me it's the perfect blend of the Divine Wings of Tragedy and V albums. I can't wait to see them play the new tunes live. :)

I think Disturbed's singer Draiman is a kick ass vocalist, I think what some people might hear as screaming need to check it out more, becuase its definitely great vocals! He just has a particular delievery, which I am am digging very much. Listen to "Believe" all the way through and I think some will agree with me.

New Symphony X I have been listening to everyday about 5 times at least lately, I love it and they are my favorite band without a doubt, they never disapoint. I also can't wait to see them again next month, its going to be awesome!!!

new Pagans Mind is a great cd as well, a bunch of borrowed riffs here and there but a great cd non the less!!

Well, it definitely wasn't God awful, so I may have to borrow it from my roommates and give it another try.

Yeah, I'm going to see them with Blind Guardian the weekend after ProgPower in DC. They're playing two nights there, and I'm going to try and catch both shows. Should be awesome. :)

I agree that they really aren't all that original, but they combine some of my favorit aspects of prog metal very well. They have good, if not totally original riffs, great keys (a la Kevin Moore on Images & Words), and a good vocalist. I've been enjoying it a lot. Thanks to Glenn for mentioning this one on the PM boards. I may have missed out otherwise. :)

Add me to the list of people that are playing the hell out of the new Pagan's Mind and Symphony X. And yes, David Draiman (Disturbed) has an excellent voice. There isn't a bad song on Believe. Here are some other discs I constantly listen to:

Pathos - Katharsis
Mercenary - Everblack
Brainstorm - Metus Mortis
Tad Morose - Matters Of The Dark
Disturbed - Believe
Testament - The Gathering
Kamelot - Karma
Imagika - And So It Burns
King Diamond - Abigail
Halford - Crucible
Bruce Dickinson - Chemical Wedding

Someone told me that Pray the frist single from the new Disturbed CD was the best song on it. I can not stand that song. I liked their first CD (The Sickness) a lot when it came out. Havn't listened to it in ages though. Symphony X is a good band. I am also seeing them with Blind Guardian... December somethingth in Chicago. I have heard nothing but praise about the new album. So I look forward to checking it out. I hear it doesn't sound exactly like every other thing they have put out. I have said before that I think Romeo just likes to learn one really really really good riff per album and play it over and over again. Divine Wings sounds like it could be one really long song almost.

Prayer is a good song but not the best song on the album in my opinion. I think Awaken or Remember are mine personally but I am sure there are different favs for different people, in my opinion this album kicks the shit out of the Sickness, its more metal less Nu metal.

Symphony X has a formula that works for them, they do try some new ground on The Odyssey but I think that is mostly Russell expanding his vocalization. I think it is Sym X's 2nd best cd to date.
