Joy Division - Decades

Wouldn't mind disintegrating.

depressed as well? sometimes I wonder if the new wave of depressive black metal bands (as well as bands like Amesoeurs) aren't the revival of real "goth" music. Modern goth music sucks (Gothic Metal/EBM/whatever) and has no real suffering or beauty in it, imo. I think some of the modern black metal bands are carrying on the original spirit of goth music in a newer medium.

edit: I know Ian Curtis was probably dead before he ever heard the term "goth" or "gothic" and that The Cure, Siouxsie, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Fields of the Nephilim, Christian Death, (deathrock, whatever, no such thing), etc. denied being intentionally goth but that's beyond the point. You can call the sound whatever you want, it doesn't really matter in the end.

I would also go so far as to say a lot of the depressive BM bands owe a lot to early to mid Katatonia, some more than others obviously (Forgotten Tomb being the most obvious probably).

I wish I could even attract a girl that wasn't completely fucked in the head. My car got totaled (sp?) yesterday and I had to quit my job today. Life is fucking grand.

np: The Cure - M (listening to Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and Pornography extended editions back to back to back)

I agree with your statement about the depressive BM being a possible re-incarnation of the Goth/Darkwave stuff going on from the early 80's like The Cure and stuff, old Christian Death etc.
If you ask me, it couldn't be more needed. Black metal is a good beast of self expression and delirium. Satan satan people say? well thats the circus BM scenario to me.

Today's a better day.

NP for the morning:
Opeth-Watershed, Damnation.
Funeral Mist-Marantha (Holy Hell, this is crazy shit)
Akira Yamaoka - Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack.
Anathema-The Silent Enigma

She was married to the guy behind Enigma. WHO IS. one of my favorite artists :p

/fun fact

Amorphis - Eclipse

you know...this is a very good album...and yet at the same time........... I don't know that it moves me at all. Maybe 'Under A Soil And Black Stone' or 'House of Sleep'. 'Silent Waters' does, 'Tales..' does...this does not. It just doesn't really hit anything emotionally. It doesn't repel me, and I like putting it on and many of the songs, but just... no reaction. Which is really really really strange for me. I don't know that I have many other albums that have that effect..
