Judging Sinister by one of their gay middle albums is pretty unjust. You need at least Cross the Styx and either Afterburner or The Silent Howling. Possibly Bastard Saints too.

All Ive heard is the split and it was decent. Nothing to turn me off completely from them, but enough to spark an interest into what their other material is. Guess I gotta check it out and see for myself.
