His albums from the 70's are all pretty shreddy. His last album that I listened to was a lot less shreddy.

Di Meola's 70's output was extraordinary. HIs solo and Return to Forever work along with 1981's Friday Night in San Francisco live album with Mclaughlin and de Lucia is possible the greatest acoustic act of all time..absolute guitar god. And his shred was never shred..just brilliant smart geetar

Yeah and they absolutely nailed it! Best traditional Thrash album 2016 so far (along with the new Exumer and Anger As Art).
