its good but pretty inconsistent tbh. like most of their releases.
It's their first album recorded in the US, first album with all Jagger and Richardson written songs so...and being 1966 it was put out during the Vietnam war...a lot going on- highly loved album by stone fans (probably thanks to 'paint it black')

I believe only the U.S. version featured "Paint It Black" didn't it? "Under My Thumb" was a non-single that became extremely popular, so much so that eventually it was released as a single in some countries. It's a pretty strong album all things considered.
You're probably right, I'd have to look it up...I go through my mom's vinyls when I see her- this is one of her favorites
