My first impression is that I like this better than its predecessor. Let's see what I think in a couple of months or in a year from now. Haven't listened to it fully concentrated and with headphones yet.

The new album rules, but I think their last one had more immediate appeal.

Sometimes those albums which take some time to get into can turn out to be the best. I haven't listend to "The Wake" for a while now. From their newer releases, I definitely prefer "Target Earth". BTW, I think it was a good decision to buy the special edition with the additional live-CD "Return To Morgöth" from 2018. It contains 5 songs from my three favourite Voivod-albums as well as the title track and "Fall" from the "Post Society"-EP. The remaining four songs are "Obsolete Beings", "The Lost Machine", "Korgüll The Exterminator" and "The Prow".
