I love that album and I think they did a good job of updating their sound, but their early stuff has really grown on me. Those albums may have a lot of dated elements, but beyond those, I think they were cutting-edge for their time, given the speed and the raw, abrasive energy and inclusion of lead melodies that absolutely hold up to the likes of Iron Maiden despite being a bit less prominent; the more modern metal elements on those early albums are delivered in a way that exalts quality over quantity.I actually like Saxon from Unleash the Beast on more than the stuff before.
