They're probably last place on that list. Waaayy better than The Chasm though, that's for sure. They're definitely way easier to digest than the other bands i mentioned.You dont think Onward to Golgotha and Mortal Throne of Nazarene completely eviscerate everything The Chasm has done? It's funny, i remember a time where Incantation was probably the most well respected and loved death metal band on this forum and the two albums i mentioned were basically untouchable. I didnt mind the rabid fanboism for that band and those albums because they truly are god-tier.

Incantation rule but I've only heard a portion of their discography. If we are comparing individual albums rather than entire discographies the rankings change. Gorguts' 2nd and 3rd album are two albums I'd put over 99% of death metal albums, but I'd never call Gorguts a favourite band of mine because I'm not a big fan of their debut and I haven't heard much after Obscura.
This is why Bolt Thrower are my favourite, because they have a style I love and they're consistent as fuck. I would also choose Suffocation as a favourite.

You already know, they're one of my all time favorite bands and not many others can come close to what they've done. I was going to include them in there too but i was responding directly to Phyls "5 album run thing" and their man run ended at 4 albums so i couldnt. Every Gorguts album completely demolishes The Chasm and leaves them in the dust. Tbh, in comparison The chasm is pretty much shit tier.
Suffo are also one of my favorite bands and i was going to include them in there too but im just not too fond of their S/T and know quite a few others who arent either. but yea their initial 4 album run is god tier and indeed shits all over the chasm.

I love Suffocation's self titled actually, haha. But no I haven't delved into "modern" Gorguts but I really should, I have no excuse.

yea it's another killer left field album from them. Colored Sands(even though it came way later) would be like the missing link/piece from Obscura to FWtH. I'd definitely love to hear your opinions on both of those albums once you've listened to them. Let me link you to a few of my fav songs from each, which is hard since i think they're both 5 star albums. Btw Colored Sands is the greatest comeback album of all time imo.

Domination isn’t good. Heretic and Illud are fucking awful. Haven’t heard Kingdoms Disdained.
But whatever, Altars and Blessed are two of my favourite death metal albums and one of the few 2 albums runs that can compete with Deathcult for Eternity and Procession to the Infraworld for me. Morbid Angel will always be one of my favourite bands because of that.
I was also going to bring up Immolation and Bolt Thrower, I’m a fan of both, especially Immolation. I don’t have a problem with those being in the discussion for best death metal band.

Kingdoms sucks also. But that's ok. Because when you still line them up side by side Morbid Angel have more albums, and more importantly more better albums. The Chasm have 8 albums and their first two are pretty much garbage. Domination is good, but the wannabe kvlt types love shitting on that album so im not surprised that you hold that opinion which im not even sure is genuine. You're definitely lying to yourself if you're some kind of huge fan of the band and think that album sucks.
this track alone is better than 95% of the chasms discog.
