Hail @EspaDa for turning me onto this fucked up Polish black metal. I like this album a lot so far!

This is the best (at least partly) black metal thing to come out of Poland since Mgła. They are a black metal band at the core, but they also laugh at the scene which is devouring its own tail, trapped in stagnation. A breath of fresh air. I love it. They are friends with Truchlo Strzygi, and thus they often tour together.

That's a show I'd love to attend.

And do you remember the story I told you about the name Truchło Strzygi? It was absolutely fallacious. The name "Strzyga" does not refer to the Slavic monster whatsoever; it was the surname of the vocalist's grandmother who had passed away years ago, but still, he found it interesting to name the band after her. He envisaged an image of her funeral in his mind, and that's how the front cover of their debut LP was born. It's her lying in the coffin, and you can see particular members of the band in the crowd surrounding the corpse. An incredible story if you ask me. Pretty sick and morbid at the same time, but it definitely suits the vibe evoked by the band. And you can actually notice the plaque that reads "Stanisława Strzyga" - it's the very name of the vocalist's granny. Nice story, huh? So the name of the band basically translates to: "The Corpse of Our Vocalist's Grandmother". Haha.

Haha! I had no idea, I think I looked up some interviews but nothing was in English so I gave up. I really love that kind of in-joke thing with bands, it can be the ultimate form of rebellion to play a style of music most people take very seriously and then subvert it with tongue-in-cheek references etc. I'm always gravitating towards those kinds of bands, that's awesome and because of how the cover art looks most people would never think twice about what's going on there.

Can't fukking wait for Truchło Strzygi's second album.

They released an outtake from their debut LP sessions 2 months ago. It's pretty solid. Currently, they're touring Poland, and they are scheduled to play some really high profile festivals here in Poland. They are incredible. I love them, man. They open their shows with "Jasna pustka", which always gets me going. People tend to think they are a facetious band that doesnt take their own craft seriously, but the vocalist denies it every time. By the way, he was responsible for the bulk of the writings for the debut LP since it was only him in the beginning. He wanted to lead a one-man project, but he found it impossible in the end and got a few offers to play gigs. He recruited a few friends, and that's how the mighty Truchło was born. I think they should release a new one next year. Definitely keenly anticipated one on my part.

I eagerly gobbled up that new split already lmao. Yeah I don't see them as being a facetious band myself, they just have a different (and arguably more personal) take on the genre. If they were facetious it would show in their music, but they don't sound weak or limp-wristed they sound vicious and filthy.

"Jasna Pustka" rules, and in the official video Gambit wears a Disastrous Murmur shirt!

Don't know Disastrous Murmur but I really like the fact you enjoy Truchło. They are truly a band of worth. And I love this video. There are also some people that criticize his vocals, and I find his vocals really interesting. Gambit is also the drummer for Imperator, a legendary Polish band. I think you might be aware of them.

Really sick early Austrian death metal/grind band with a bizarre drum sound lol.

Yeah! He joined them last year I believe, he also drums for that band Thunderwar and in 2018 drummed for Bestiality and released a really crushing black/thrash/death album.

I do agree his vocals are unorthodox and not for everybody, which is fine. To me they sound like a cross of punk and Celtic Frost, with of course the occasional more extreme bits. It makes them stand out I think, and in this day and age the average "extreme metal" fan wants to hear perfectly performed "screams" and whatever, fuck that gay shit. It's great to hear someone just grunting and roaring their way through a song haha.
