Paradise Lost - In Requiem
listening to if for the first time, and I am pleasantly surprised. It's definitely metal. They used to be my favorite band about 12 years ago, but then they went to shit, and I stopped listening to them.
Well this album sounds like atmospheric gothic/doom metal with clean vocals. It is somewhat like Icon and Draconian Times. Their earliest albums are doom death, and Shades of God is like the bridge between their doom death period and trad doom period. After Draconian times, they released some goth rock albums that I do not like at all. The bottom line being, their sound has varied greatly over their career. In Requiem is NOT their best album. If you want to check them out, I would start with Icon or Shades of God, and then check out their earliest stuff, and then Draconian times and In Requiem. Overall, they have put out some great releases, and I can see myself really getting back into them now (they were after all my favorite band a long long time ago).I never have heard a song by them. What does it sound like?
