(NYC) April 24 - Novembers Doom, Saturnus, Thurisaz, Gwynbleidd, GreySkiesFallen

 ... the cage dances during ND were ... something else
even saw the drummer from Gwyn going at it at some point

Cool show. The band that surprised me most was Gwynbleidd. I had heard the CD, but was never really drawn in by it. However, hearing it live made a huge difference. I ended up picking up the CD.

The rest of the bands were exactly what I was expecting, so it was an excellent show.

Definitely cool meeting Will, Wolfstribe and Dan. I know I met a few others, but their names are casualties of my alcohol soaked memory.

I feel like shit. Less like shit than I did 6 hours ago, but like shit none the less.

Zod

surprised Ali has not chimed in yet considering he was off today and all ... he just dissapeared last night. probbaly had to catch a train.

Sounds like an awesome night!

Oh, Sfarog... The shirt already arrived. Its an even better design when seen up close. I'll definitely add it to the rotation!

yeah sorry, I was into the 3rd ND song, looked at the time and holy shit...it was 12:30am and my last train was at 12:42am so I said bye to Paula and ran to Penn St.

Today though, had this dentist appt and I'm getting root canal tomorrow. First one ever. :ill:

Last night was excellent, shame I had to leave during ND's set but man oh man, they came on so late! (Actually, it wasn't all that late, it's just that the stupid trains stop running too early).

Gwynbleidd ruled. The new stuff sounds great too. I'll see these guys play live anytime.

it was a long evening for sure ... especially coming out after work.
my friend Leon, had to wait a bit after the show as he was pretty hammered and on a motorcycle ... but we made it home ok.

Gwynbleidd ran off with the show last night for sure ... like I told mr. sfarog, the band sounded tight and oozes confidence in delivery ... sound was awesome as well. they will go far ...

pretty great turnout for a Tuesday night ... great vibe no doubt. The venue is pretty good. I can imagine a well promoted weekend show packing them in.

The End key staff was on hand and very gracious ... I somewhat confirmed "a possible" Negura Bunget and Moonsorrow package later this year (fingers crossed) ... they want to do a "high profile" east coast tour for NB ... the 3 people I talked to from TER were all very much into NB.

yeah seriously...there was a whole bunch of HC fans in the place (us lot notwithstanding)..we've got a cool little community going now in NYC or so it seems....big hairy dave was there but of course

Grey Skies Fallen suffered from the "opening band" syndrome -- not too many people in the venue, everyone still sober...they did get better as they played

Gwynbleidd STORMED through their songs with pure riff wizardry -- I'm most impressed by the great sound (they have their own sound guy), they produce a wall of sound but yet still manage to be 'warm' and not overbearing.

The drummer is fantastic. Damn, the whole band is just spot on, and all the little mistakes go largely unnoticed and don't deter whatsoever.

Thurisaz were really very good, I love the double vocals too. Great stuff.

Didn't watch Saturnus but I could hear them and they sounded good. That one great song from the last album sounded brilliant live (I think it's track #1).

ND...well, these guys totally own the stage...but I had to leave. Oh well, at least I got to see them do "Pale Haunt Departure".

The whole night was great, especially just hanging out with all these folks here. :kickass:

I really wanted to say hello to Andreas but I was just too drunk and you could tell he was sober and I wasn't about to make a fool out of myself. :tickled: Next time I'll corner him. I totally want his involvement with any RC fest so last night wasn't the right time to shoot myself in the foot. :loco:

haha, yeah Zod cornered him and dragged me into the conversation ... but after talking to him and ther main promo guy ... ended up talking to their booking / tour manager (whom I also spoke with today). Good contact and open to ideas.
