i downloaded the album yesterday, and i noticed a strange thing, the length of the track is 24 minutes not 18 as reported by the band.
anyone knows what's up with that?

OK I looked around, and found out that:

THE ALBUM HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN LEAKED.

Now, I don't know if I should download it and listen to it, or wait and buy the cd (I'm pre-ordering it anyway). But waiting a whole month is sure a long time + shipping time....

yep, the album is on the net .....

i got King Of Terrors from the website and Inferno from a p2p program

the others i'm trying to get but still a low number of pepople seem to have it, and the ones i found were queued

and don't worry cause i am surely going to buy the album :)
i'm a "genuine heavy metal fan" :P

I think 18 minutes was a number that came form the demo stages of making the Odyssey. In the end it was 24 minutes, not that it's a bad thing by any means either. I would have to assume that parts just kept getting added and re-added while no one particularly watched the time length.

damn right karel, I always down an album before I buy it,who puts these on the net anyway, in case of SX I always buy it coz this band rulez.
it's said that bands loose a lot of money coz of p2p, truth is I always buy albums of my favorit bands and other bands are not worth buyin', sometimes I buy an album coz of songs I found on the net ,so in the end I buy more albums of better bands instead of buyin' unknown stuff that sux after a while, grtz, mhb ;)

Okay here's the way i feel about leaked albums. As long as you buy the album it's okay. There really is no big deal when the album comes out early! I mean i have heard tons of albums waaay before they came out, and when they came out i forked over the cash and was totally content!

I'll admit it: I'm going to download it before it comes out. But then again, I'll buy it as well. I have burned copies of all the (until recently) import only CDs, but now that they're available here, I'll slowly replace the burned copies with the real thing (already bought TDWOT).

I've downloaded the whole album and it rocks!!!!!

I've also preordered a copy of the Limited Edition of it, so I'm not ripping anyone off.....I just felt that I couldn't wait a whole month more!!!

i dont really like d/l ing whole albums..weather theyre already out of not; weather im going to buy it or not... If I plan on buying it, it sort of ruins the excitement you get when first opening it and first hearing new songs.

In the case of Dream Theater, Symphony X and Ayreon, for example, I Downed a couple of songs from each artist, then went and bought a couple of records, and now I own most of the albums by all of these, and lots more. I think p2p networks and sharing mp3's with friends is a real good and easy way to spread the word about a band unheard of before. I probably won't download anything from The Odyssey though, mainly 'cause I'll trust Symphony X to make an album rivalling V and The Divine Wings of Tragedy. This way I've managed to spread the word about several bands, Symphony X included.
