Official RC Snobby Beer Purchases Thread

Pretty much, twas a good run. No new blood, geezer class slowly drifting to senility, music discussion typically hits a brick wall upon every effort. Just replace the raven over the moon with Opeth17's face and be done with it. :!

Forum needs at least a dozen people to chime in on a consistent basis. Looks bleak my friend. :!

let's bury the music angle and celebrate grown-ups stuff instead:

seriously among the top 3 imperial stouts I've had in my entire life

haha I ordered booze an hour ago from some beer shop 50 miles from my place, looking to take advantage from free delivery in my area.

It so happens that the guy handling the deliveries lives... Three houses away from me. He's one of the new neighbors I had been greeting for a while without ever really talking to him. He came with the beers on foot and we had a good laugh at the situation (masked and distantiated of course).

The dangerous awesome aspect is that a shitton of great beer is sitting about a can's throw from my window and I now just have to whistle across the street to get my refill

Holy fuck Vietnamese coffee imperial stout?! I must have this.

The local brewery that I can walk to (and have stumbled home from) stopped doing anything but IPA. So I don't drink there anymore. Perfect timing for the plague age, I order my beer online now most of the time anyhow. They used to make my all-time favoUrite beer, the Gourdgeous Porter. Upon its demise, tears were shed and vengeance was sworn.

I mostly drink Belgian ales because those god damn monks sure make a good beer. Gulden Draak 9000, Straffe Hendrik tripel, Maredsous tripel, La Trappe quad, those are my current favoUrites. And of course any Chimay or Trader Joe's brand (which is just Unibroue but cheaper).

Also any stouts and porters. If I see a stout and/or porter buried underneath the sea of IPA that has become today's modern beer section, I buy it. Tits the season for Christmas Beer!

Bottle Logic and The Bruery are both highly recommended from Calipornia, I think both have wide(r) distribution now, each one has a fine selection of darker ales, last I visited. Some ridiculous ABV too, if you are a full blown alcoholic such as myself. Used motor oil consistency or GTFO.

The Bruery stuff can be had around here but you gotta front some serious dough. Same for Firestone Walker (California too I think). Last year with a group of friends we ordered a crate of Parabola 2017 imperial stout, that stuff was crazy, it was like drinking hot chocolate fudge and century old soot at the same time.

Best beer I ever had (the only one I rated 5/5 on the unatppd app) was Firestone's XX Anniversary strong ale. It was a present for my 40th (sigh...). Unparallaled richness.

As Belgian beers go, Westvleteren reigns supreme, but they are notoriously hard to come by, small production and all.

The Bruery isn't cheap here either, ha. Typically $15 a bottle just to start.

Firestone Walker is great, and yep, California. A few hours north of me, the wife and were on a roadtrip a few years ago, made a gas stop and said "we're hungry HEY LOOK Firestone Walker is down the street!" Their burgers are as good as their magical stouts. Yep.

Fun fact: the day I met said wife she gave me a Firestone ale awwwww. I was moving a piano for her awwwww.

Yeah I'm generally averse to crazy sweet imp stouts, but in that case the balance of maple, honey, coffee and varnish is really neat. I had no difficulty downing the pint in less than 30 minutes.

Is DFH 120 worth the price tag for a special occasion pint? 45 bucks is a shitload, but if its truly special, may grab a 4pk.

Getting either a bomber or a 4pk of something delicious for my birthday. Whats all the rave nowadays? Looking for stouts or IPAs, everything else is uncivilized.

Eh, it's not really beer, per se. It's best enjoyed split amongst blokes, poured into a snifter. I wouldn't buy an entire 4 pck either. One is fine. It's... fine.

I'd probably get some kind of special, barrel-aged stout if I were you which the market is fucking saturated with nowadays so it shouldn't be hard.

I'll say it again for the millionth time though, modern-day beer culture is ghey & lying.

Do yourself a favor and go into Oaxaca and grab yourself some delicious, truly hand-crafted mezcal from one of the many family run palenques in the area.
