Treated myself to a Trappist beer today, a belgian one called Orval. Anyone here tried it?

Trappist Ale = Best beer this earth has to offer, especially the quads.

Orval is good. My fav is The Rochefort 10...best beer Ive ever had in my life.

La Trappe makes a good quad too. I NEED to get my hands on a Westie.

I'm pretty new when it comes to the Trappist stuff but I really like the whole concept behind it:

The beer must be brewed within the walls of a Trappist abbey, by or under control of Trappist monks.
The brewery, the choices of brewing, and the commercial orientations must obviously depend on the monastic community.
The economic purpose of the brewery must be directed toward assistance and not toward financial profit

I'll keep my eye out for those you mentioned though

Oi! My brother's girlfriend said it was German but I thought I read on some beer list that it was British. The point is: excellent brew.
