Official "Who Should Replace Volbeat?" Thread

Save the money and just get Pharaoh to play the gig. Johnsen will probably already be there anyway.

Adagio
Time Requiem - Andersson
Stride
DGM

What about Labyrinth?

Twilightning
Vanishing Point
Axenstar
Dionysus
Outworld
Pyramaze (yeah let Barlow sing twice) :)
Brainstorm ftw

Even tho it would break the 2 year rule, it seems that Circus Maximus went over really well and they cancelled their Atlanta date with Manticora. It sure would be sweet to hear Isolate tracks live.

Communic (yes, again)
Clutch
Cage
Circus Maximus
Narnia
Cloudscape
Anubis Gate
Manticora
Labyrinth

Bands I'd *really* love to see, but anything less than headliner spot for them would be unjust :)

Silent Force
Brainstorm
Falconer

Lots of cool suggestions, Machine Men and Seventh Wonder sound realistic,
love to see something along those lines...

I will give my two cents worth then shut up:

MINDFLOW(new album in May and it's awesome, plus they would do it for the exposure)

MACHINE MEN( Enough said)

DARKWATER

THE CARBAREUTORS

PRETTY MAIDS(They are due, I guess)

Primordial would be my first choice, but that's never going to happen. The Hammers of Misfortune suggestion would seem the most logical fit (out of those listed in this thread), if Glenn was looking for a true wild card. I believe Devin doesn't want to play live for the foreseeable future. I don't see Glenn bringing in a Power Metal band to replace Volbeat. If he can't get a suitable wild card, I suspect we'll get something with a Prog bent to it.

Just listing various odd bands that could replace the uniqueness (though not the spirit) of Volbeat:

Same slot:
Clutch: Yes, really DC, why not?
Ihashn: Really varied stuff, new album coming out, easily famous enough for the slot.
Samael: Already in the states for that Amorphis tour...
Corrosion of Conformity: keeping that southerny feel Volbeat sometimes has

Lower slot:
Mindless Self Indulgence (These guys don't fit in a single bit, but they're fun as hell and extremely different. I've seen them live too, and it did not disappoint at all)
Powerglove (Video game metal!)
The Black Mages (More progressive sounding video game metal, Japanese style!)
Psychostick (Just strange)
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (I'd actually be happy with the higher slot, but I might be the only one)
Tyr (these guys aren't so unique, but they'd be the only band wearing chain mail...)

They're not even a metal band. They tour the US extensively all the time. Hell, I'll be seeing them for the 3rd time within a year in a few weeks. Not really exclusive and would be even more of an oddball choice than Volbeat.

Fair enough. I guess I just liked Volbeat so much, I won't be happy unless it's another band that doesn't fit. Oh well :(

Here's a few I'd like to see:

ANUBIS GATE

and as much as I like Anubis Gate I don't think I'd slot them in more than a 3rd tier band as it stands so far, but then again thats me and I know jack squat about band popularity. =P

I will give my two cents worth then shut up:

MINDFLOW(new album in May and it's awesome, plus they would do it for the exposure)

MACHINE MEN( Enough said)

Oh hellz yeah on those two...

Referencing outside threads--
I've seen Slough Feg mentioned on the other thread or two about this open slot, but I'd much rather see The Sword over Slough Feg.

I suspect 8, maybe 9 people, would be happy with this announcement. I'd be one of them. Not so much a fan, as I'd be curious to see them.

From some videos I've seen, they put on a good and highly interesting show. I think that, given the chance, they'd turn a few unsuspecting heads.

That is absolutely false. I love Devin. I loved his stage banter. The problem was that my audience was not familiar with him at the time and didn't know how to exactly "stick it in their cunt."

I'd say he would go over much better now.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah
I wish I was there that year.....we joke about "progressive nipples" all the time.....

You know.....I don't ever hear Atheist getting mentioned. They're back together and Steve Flynn is a friend of ours, he lives in Atl. Also....Believer. They're back together and about to drop a new record. They're also talking about touring later this year. myspace.com/believerband. I for one would crap my pants if they were on the fest. Then I'd change pants, and do it all over again. I didn't get to see them the only time they came through Atlanta because Kurt got sick when they were on the Bolt Thrower tour years ago.

On another note, how about if both bands toured together? That'd be some irony..... =)
