who do you REALLY want to see at progpower?

I never could understand why so many repeats when there are so many bands out there that are just as good if not better than the ones who have gotten the slots. Hammerfall and Fates Warning seem to me to have been given that they should done it by now. I have always thought this along with After Forever, well they are now. Scar Symmetry I'm surprised as not done it with how much they were being pushed, their great. Give anything to see Vanishing Point. And I hate I did not make it the year Orphaned Land played I love that band. They remind me of Camel, well as much as Opeth does.
But if the fest does not go real tradition prog then I hope it stays metal. The Disney bands and their movie scores I think is getting tiresome. More Gammaray and bands to rock that place out.
Damn, a Forbidden reunion would rule.

Two things:

1. Repeat bands are a business decision to enforce the nostalgia appeal. My formula has worked so I really don't worry about armchair quarterbacks.

2. Learn your festival history before making comments about specific bands such as Fates Warning. I post about it every year.

BURN!!!

I was not making any negative comments, or not meaning to atleast. Is this how forums usually go? And I do believe I suggested a repeat, Orphaned Land. Perhaps I wasn't clear there. It's just nice to see different stuff. I thought that was the point of this thread to suggest stuff, my bad. I wasn't knocking on the fest or the "forumula". I personally think it's great so no need to be rude. And my apologies for not keeping up on forum chatter. Could have simply explained the FW thing in a couple of words oppose to attacking me. If I had a problem with the festival I would have not attended all but one in Atlanta.

seems there's quite a bit of chatter about Scar Symmetry. I like this band but nothing about their sound is prog or power IMO. It's a melodic/death vibe that I'm getting from them...

Diablo Swing Orchestra however, that's a PP band.

I'd love to see HammerFall at PPUSA IX or X. Thanks for bringing in Primal Fear this year, Glenn! I've been waiting to see them for about 8 years now! Hail!

I've seen Pretty Maids pushed longer and harder (heheh.. immature.) than SS has been, and I haven't seen them on the roster either. Glenn, enough with these shenadigans! It's time to start listening to the fans, and stop doing what YOU want! Geez.

:P

Ok, I'm done. Sorry. hehe.

H&H - FW basically don't give Glenn the time of day. How this happens when Ray will have performed at PP twice. I don't know. Perhaps its the other guys (i.e. Matheos) in the band not realizing something. Still would love to see them, and maybe we finally will.

Thank you, seems that was easy enough.
The fest seems to be perfect for them. They are not to big to do something like PP I would not think. Hell they were never Queensrycje or Dream Theater, althought I always preferred them personally. Perhaps they do think they are in that camp and Prog/Power is beneathe them? Oh, well probably would not play the songs I would want to hear anyway.

I've seen FW play live, and I think they'd steal the show at PPUSA. Let's hope they'll be playing here before too long.

I got to a show to late, only caught the last song. I really love that band but from everything I have ever seen they look to be boring live. But then again Symphony X and Ciruc Maxiums put me to sleep. I need energy live like DC Cooper. Now that is a showmen.

Silent Force
