Retro thrash sounds like garbage though. They already did a Reign-rehash with Divine back in 1994, when just about every band from the 80s was tightening up their sound to compete against the grunge bands. I really liked Divine, except for the fact that the production is absolutely horrible, but it is time to move on.
I always laugh when people label Slayer as sell outs. What they are doing now is probably less accessible than what they were doing with SOH or SITA. What songs on DIM or GHUA could possibly get some radio airplay? Bloodline? Payback? Point? Bitter Peace? Where's the radio friendly material? If they were trying to sell out with either album, then they failed miserably, since neither album approaches the sales totals for SOH or SITA.
IMO GHUA is better than DIM. It is smart, fast, and aggressive. In 1982 Kerry formed a band with the intent of making the most aggressive and evil music on the planet, and 19 years later they released an album entitled "God Hates Us All".
I saw them on tour back in February, and they were outstanding (surprise, surprise). The new songs sounded great, and Dave was flawless.
