Tore was my favorite guitarist of the guitarists at Prog-Power this year, but he's underused in Conception I think. I like his playing in Ark though.

Thonolan said:(this is one of the things most of the listeners don't get about Conception). But it's not the technical skills what makes Conception magical. It's the songwriting, and especially the atmosphere of their songs. You can feel something really deep, touching and almost supernatural while listening to them. I can't really describe this feeling with words, but believe me, it's something wonderful. There's no other band out there which sounds like them. And the lyrics... if somebody is able to find a non-english native speaking band with better lyrics, I'll hardly believe it.
Conception is a cult band, and this means they have a great fanbase but also a number of people who just don't get them. But that's the magic of the true geniouses. If everybody would be able to get them, it'd be pretty boring...
CONCEPTION RULES
Cardinal Sin said:i don't know exactly how to explain this, but i hope people will understand what i mean. It's normal when you put a cd (one time, or over and over again) just as a background music while doing something else on the computer, or doing homework or just work. But THIS music (as a background music) won't let you captivate the techniques and things that might be catchy to you if you have paid notice to the music on the first listen (or any listens). Thus saying this, it's easy for people to say, "ah this is boring" after awhile, while doing something else. but for people for example, that play the guitar, try this. Grab your guitar, and play for example "Roll The Fire" together with the song while listening to it. you'll see catchy things popping up faster than you imagine (hopefully). I'm sure many of you wont agree with this, because for most of you, music is supposed to be catchy at any time. but by doing these kind of stuff, i got into the music of conception which is for me so catchy now without playing guitar together with the song. This can also be anything else that's not guitar, but just paying notice to the songs. I for example got into conception so quick because of paying notice to the flamenco music, and different beats and rhythms of Arve Heimdal. And Unbelievably, they made metal and progressive music out of all these rhythms.
Dolamite S. Biffle said:Granted I really like Conception, but I think Kamelot blows them out of the water. Conception doesnt have one song as good as March of Mephisto \m/ or Arabian Nights \m/ or Center of The Universe \m/.
Thonolan said:That's your opinion... I think the only Kamelot song that reaches "Conception-quality" is "Lunar Sanctum". Kamelot is a very good band but not even by far as special as Conception is, and also way less technical and original (imo).
Cardinal Sin said:btw, Thonolan...you are Mourning Star on rollthefire.com right?
The Fiddler said:I think average or below average vocalists need to run all over the stage to help distract the audience from paying too much attention to their voice. I mean, how hard can you focus on your vocal lines when your trying not to run into band members, jumping over cords, balancing on monitors, and sticking the mic into the crowd? It's easy to run and scream lyrics.
As a Conception fan, I wouldn't mind seeing Kahn be more active on stage. On the other hand, I just can't see him jumping, running, and screaming to 95% of the Conception catalog. He'd look silly. It's not the way the songs are written and it's not Roy.
