Oktavamod Mics?

I saw the Ocktavamod mics being mentioned in another thread and decided to check it out, the prices are pretty good considering the performance (there's some sound clips on the site)
The microphone I was thinking of getting is going to be mainly for acoustic guitar, nylon and steel string. It seems like a cheaper worthwhile alternative to the AKG C414 that I was going to get.

Any thoughts?

IIRC Glenn had a pair of 012s modded and liked the results. I have not heard of anyone doing the LDC mod.

Personally at that price point I wonder if it's worth the mod or just buying a nicer mic. BTW, you can find used 214s on ebay for $350 if you want a 414.

I have two standard Oktava MC-012-01's and it sounds excellent on classical guitar.

I have both the a pair of modded MK012 and the MK319 floating dome with premium electronics mod. Worth every penny. I'll be speaking out of my arse by saying this but I bet any of his LDC mic shits all over a C214 or any mic in the same price range.
On the other hand, I'm not 100% sold on his "ultimate" SDC mod on mics like the MXL 603.

saweeeet, exactly what I wanted to hear. Can't decide between the SDC replicating a neumann km-84 or the LDC replicating a neumann 87. I suppose at the price I could get both

I've got his NT1a U87 mod, his MXL 2003a U67 mod, and his Cascade "gomez" and they're all fuckin sexy sounding in their own way. Totally recommend them.
