Case in point:

BB Kings Club, NYC

Emperor, regular t-shirt: $30 USD

Sorry, but that is just extortion, even if they are only playing 2 nights in NY and 2 nights in LA

Well, it depends on what band it is.
Bolt Thrower - $10
Maiden - $40
Dark Tranquillity - $20 perhaps

I've seen t-shirts as high as $35 for the big European bands over here. I refuse to pay that. I payed $30 for a longsleeve once, usually its $20-25 for t-shirts. On rare ocassions maybe 15

got that ISIS shirt at the show for $15 ... which is more than fair.

$20 TOPS for me ...

I know what bulk printing prices are like and they cost no more than $7-8 in the worst case for double sided full color shirts ... so a 400% markup is bullshit ... but hey, the bands make 80% of theoir money from touring and merchandise, so I can see their need to mark shit up extensivelly.

I should say however, that when I use to see alot of grind/death metal in the dirty clubs in baltimore I would normally pay $8-10 for shirts. Even some bigger name acts seemed like they were selling there shirts for cheaper at the smaller clubs.

Agreed - the shirts were cool, but simply not worth the money.

On average - at your typical underground metal show t-shirts are anywhere from $15 to $20.

When you go to the bigger shows (major metal tours, or giant bands like Maiden), t-shirts are indeed upwards of $30. Unless it's a shirt I can't do without, no way I'll ever pay that for a t-shirt.

Seems to depend on the band. When I bought my emperor shirt 7 years ago during their King of Terror tour it cost 24 dollars. On the other hand, more recently the Napalm Death shirt I bought was only 16 dollars. Seesm they hold true to their grindcore ethics.

I don't really buy anything at shows. Anytime I try they are sold out of the kickass stuff anyways, like Sodom white 20th aniv. tshirts :( :(
