So, really, I love being proven wrong.....or at the least I love discovering something I previously didn't like....but now do.

So, I'm one of those guys that can rave on about how much Dave Mustaine's voice bugs me....and have done this many times. However, heard Tornado of Souls the other day, and thought, "Maybe I got this wrong."

I went and bought Rust in Peace...and....WHOA!!! Really. I've no idea what changed for me, but this is a killer record. And yes, obvously I'll be checking out some more.

I had owned the first two back in the day, and just gave up on them for whatever reason.

I was never a huge Megadeth fan either, back in the day. His voice always bothered me to the point where I couldn't enjoy the music. But I've grown (a little) more tolerant in my old age and rediscovered Mr. Mustaine about a year ago when I bought the Greatest Hits cd. Now I kind of like his voice (although still not crazy about it) and I really love the music. Mega heavy!!

Welcome to Megadeth. And yes side by side CTE and RIP were the albums that turned me into the band.

And 'Tornado Of Souls' owns everybody (one of the best solos btw). Love that song like crazy...hmm I guess I'll take the tape for a ride to the beach today :D

Dave's an awful singer for sure but Megadeth's secret lies somewhere else as I'm glad you've now noticed.
With their next two, Countdown to Extinction and Youthanasia, Megadeth kinda "sold out" but with style and these three are IMO their absolute peak. The Mustaine/Friedman combo was one of the best in the business back then.

Dave seriously dropped the ball in the late 90s. I felt their latest album from 2004 was thoroughly enjoyable though.

Megadeth is one of those bands like metallica, that the vocals ruined it for me, other than that, Megadeth are actually pretty good, but Metallica are just: "meh" though.

I've never been a huge Megadeth fan for the same reasons as Wiz, TSO and Bryant. Apart from "Rust in Peace" which is a milestone of metal indeed, I'm more into their softer albums like "Youthanasia" and "Cryptic Writings".
The last 2 albums did nothing for me though, I like a few songs here and there but that's it.

well, i often say i love megadeth but thats probably somewhat a mis-representation. they are very good. their lateast 17 song "best of" cd plus about another 5 or 6 missing from there are my favorites...i rarely find myself listening to an original deth record, because usually only half of it does it for me.

that one you got there and CTE are the only 2 i think i ever put in by themselves.
