Let us pretend for a second that Roadrunner DOES eventually purchase the rights to all of Opeth's back catalogue, and they then decide to release a PROPER box set, unlike the bullshit one that Koch put together recently.

What kind of stuff would you like to see in this fantasy box set?

PS. I searched for this... apologies if it's been done already!

hmmm...
i guess a CD with all of opeth' favourite tracks (that is favoured by opeth themselves), a DVD with an interview about every album's story, and maybe some merchandises...
good question though :)

Who doesnt already have all of Opeth's albums? The only thing I'd want from an Opeth boxset would be things never released. Ex. concert footage, documentaries, etc.

Mainly, this would be a dream to a newbie fan:

All of opeth's CDs, but with all the bonus tracks.

For example, MAYH with the covers, the swano duet with the bonus tracks, BWP with the bonus disc. Mainly, a boxset with all of opeth's studio albums, but with the bonus track versions.

Every song ever.
38 new songs.
A new live DVD where the play every song they every recorded at one show.

I also want it to come out right now and you should have the option of buying the limited edition version that comes with used guitar picks from the band and a list of their amp settings.

If they exist (and as long as I've been on this forum I haven't heard if they do), unreleased original songs (or even fragments) that never made the albums.

Hm, I recall that Peter or Mikeal said in an interview that there was video footage of the recording of BWP and that it probably would be released someday. Don't know if it's ever gonna happen, but I'd really like to see it.

Personally, I'd like to see more videos along the line of what Mikael, Peter and Martin did for guitar.com with Dissecting The Drapery Falls. But the problem is I'd want to see a video for each song and there's no way that's ever going to happen! The amount of time it would take..

I love seeing documentaries on the recording of albums, so anything that featured studio footage of the recording of the albums from Orchid to Blackwater Park would be brilliant.

All Opeth CDs without bonus trackls and then a seperate disc with all the Opeth covers/bonus tracks (Maybe a new cover song?)

Some live stuff.

weren't there a couple of songs from the deliverance/damnation days that didn't make it onto either album? I would love to hear those.

I remember hearing about that actually. It would be good to hear them! I wonder if those songs will possibly be broken down and parts incorporated into newer songs for the upcoming albums. Perhaps even one or two of them resurfaced on Ghost Reveries...?

I think I would like to see a nice, wooden box with the logo burned into the panels. Content wise, I'd like to see:
- a live disc with the usual setlist;
- a show similar to the Chronology show, but performed over two nights. Each show consisting of two-one hour sets, half of each set being devoted to one album. (Example: Day 1, Set 1 = 30 mins of Orchid and 30 mins of Morningrise, etc) All of this would be filmed for a DVD.
- a live DVD of Still Life performed in it's entirety.
- then some other extra goodies would be nice, too!
