Sorry if this is not allowed, but I saw a covers compilation thread in the KAtatonia forums, and I just think that would be something really cool to make for Opeth. Well, if not, has anyone made a cover of an opeth song, and could you post the mp3, I would love to hear some, because I always enjoy playing Opeth myself. If this is spam or whatever, delete it please, or I will delete it tomorrow morning.

Our band (in which I play drums) recorded this cover of Advent at our rehearsal pad at the end of our recording session back in summer 2002, just for the fun of it since we like playing Opeth cover songs. It's a bit sloppy at times, but all the instruments are recorded in one take, everyone playing together (and I had fever and had been playing drums for only a year).

Oh yeah, it doesn't have vocals. :(

I am looking for members who want to form a coverband.. but nobody in my area listens to them

Well, do you guys want to put together a covers compilation of Opeth songs?? I think that would be cool, I could maybe add some songs too.

Why don't you get each person to record a different instrument, and merge them together. It'd be like an online band, which would rock so much.

They did that on the Meshuggah forum a few years back, it turned out really cool! All the songs were sent to the band and the band chose the best one and those people were given a prize of some sort (just saying what happened with that one, I'm not expecting anything like that) I'd be all for it...If anyone wants to do Serenity Painted Death, Forest of October or White Cluster PM me! I play guitar by the way...

Ahh, another Opeth covers thread (I say this sarcastically, because if I recall correctly, last time we all talked about it, I was the only one to actually do one :D ). I turned Prologue into a funeral doom song, with a couple of riffs from 'Into the frost of winter' and the lyrics to (I think) White Cluster or something like that. Anyway, I've since taken it off my site, but I'll put it back so those that want to can hear it.

WOW, mr. niel.. I really like your cover.. it's so fucking different.. at times it seems like some totally different song then it goes into those familiar riffs. I like how you did most of the riffs clean too.. it sounds really cool! Good job!
