Opeth guitarist quits.

A little movement every once in a while would be nice. But nope, his feet are fucking planted the entire time, his head shakes maybe once or twice a song, and he just looks down at the ground the rest of the time...

Thats bad stage presence.

Well Im entertained by his playing, which I think is great. (although I always wished they would turn up his amp louder). He's just a different guy, he's not really into the 'rockstar posing', telling the crowd to make noise, etc...and its much better that way.

Plus a lot of their songs werent really meant to be played live, and there's no parts to get the crowd 'into it.'

The other side of the spectrum would be like In Flames lately. Anders gets the crowd into it I guess, but he also acts and sounds like an idiot now. I much prefer Opeth's style

I'm not asking the guy to be uber-enthusiastic... just to move a little. You seem to be completely misunderstanding everything I am saying.

Its so boring when you are watching someone just sit and play his guitar, unaware of anything around him, with a "I wanna go fucking home" expression on his face. Then again... it seems all he did want to do was go home.

Opeth aren't much of a live band. Not that they sound bad by any means, but I'd just rather sit back, and listen to their cd. Deliverance was actually very good live though.

Anders on the other hand gets da fuck up and gets da fuck down. Funny guy live.

Kinda what I am trying to lead to...

And by no means am I saying I don't like Lindgren's playing. I'm just saying the guy was boring as all hell on stage.

The more I think about it the more I wonder why mikael picked the people he did. They don't seem to fit the band. I know I said he knows what he's doing, but then I thought about the new keyboardist who doesn't seem to fit right in the band at all. I for one really liked ghost, but always notice how out of place the keyboardist is a lot of the time. I wonder if thats something we are gonna have to deal with more and more. The sound will be the same, but the players wont fit. The still life line up till deliverance was perfect for the band. I guess I'll just have to wait, and see.

I'd rather watch a guy who can PLAY and just stands there like a statue than some dude who has "stage presence " but can't play shit .

Dillinger Escape Plan comes to mind .the guitar player is playing one finger chords but he's got stage presence .

It's all about the music people ,not who can thrash the best  because we know Nevermore does that the best

Dillinger Escape Plan are good musicians. Actually sit down and look at their material, it's more than just garbled guitar.

I'd put Miss Machine and the EP they did with Mike Patton against anything Opeth ever did, for the record.

dillinger escape plan uses more than one "finger chord". Have you ever listened to the arppegiated jazz breaks to their songs?

try playing a song like 43% burnt. It'll give you a better understanding.

Apparently you don't understand the concept of stage presence any more than you understand that not everyone likes bands based solely on how technical they are.

One thing I could never stand about people in this forum is the last of respect for D.E.P. Miss Machine is a fucking masterpiece. Give it another listen.

Great band, but they need to tour with other bands of their type, rather than with metal shows. They got 0 respect in Cleveland, and I was sad. Although the singer made danzig look small, and was going to rip a kids head off hahaha
