Opeth on VH1.com

Yeah this past week they had like a metal weekend or something where they played nothing but metal/rock videos and I think they featured a episode or two of headbangers ball, not sure though, I missed the whole metal weekend thing but all I know is that they had it.

Headbangers Ball, if it comes back, will probably just be a bunch of crappy nu-metal recycled from the regular video line-up. Link Park, Slipknot, etc..

I also kinda heard mention that they might bring back Headbanger's Ball. My reason was due to the large number of people watching The Osbournes. People who don't normally watch MTV watch The Osbournes. So, I guess MTV sees that there are still metal fans out there. I also think their recent metal weekend is a test to see how ratings were. Then again, they are doing a hip hop weekend next weekend I believe...go figure. They play hip hop all the time, but they have to show a hip hop weekend. Anyway, the metal weekend was very lame. They played maybe 3 or 4 shows about metal(one about moshing, one, Headbanger's Ball uncensored, and something else), and then played other lame regular shows not pertaining to metal.

I am with morganm on this one. I think even if they bring back Headbanger's Ball it will just have the same nu-metal acts that currently get airtime on MTV. I guess it's a step forward in some ways, but I have given up on MTV ever being good again. Maybe if people show interest in metal and it starts getting bigger they'd eventually have requests for actual metal. Who knows?

HEY. I thought one of the strange things about Martin and Martin is that besides both having the same first names that they were both from Uruguay. Lopez is from Sweden? Huh!

The "Headbanger's Ball might be coming back" talk I heard a while back too. Maybe last year or something, but I never seen anything come of it. Maybe it's getting closer and closer to being here again. Maybe the Osbourns is part of bringing it back (by checking ratings?) or maybe that crazy old bastard's way of trying to ring up more CA-CHING. w/e the case may be, I too think it won't be what we all want, but hey... it's a start.

I GUARANTEE you that if Headbanger's ball ever came back, it would be nothing but nu-metal crap. Probably not so much rapcore, but LOTS of Slipknots, Mudvaynes, Mushroomheads, and all that similar garbage.

Like someone else already said, MTV will never be good again.

Maybe that's why it's NOT back... because most the metal heads that would listen to it think it's not really worth it.

Anyone care to share the heaviest/best video you remember seeing on MTV? I remember seeing Iron Maiden once. The song title escapes me. I'm pretty sure it was Somewhere In Time. It was a live recording from a show. Eddie was tromping around in the back.

One night when Gene Simmons was the special guest they played Morbid Angel - God of Emptiness. I also saw some Death, and a lot of Prong. This was back in either '93 or '94 I believe.
