Opeth Setlists for the "Chronology MCMXCIV - MMV " shows

I myself am leaning towards a couple of particulars off of Ghost Reveries:
Beneath the Mire
Reverie/Harlequin Forest
The Baying of the Hounds
and/or The Grand Conjuration

As for all the other albums I have difficulty in guessing which of the many great songs they will play
From Still Life (which is my favorite album- I know, an unpopular choice, but the truth) I hope that they play Face of Melinda because it is one of my most listened to songs (ie I love it)
I am guessing that if they wanted to go very heavy they would play serenity painted death or white cluster, although The Moor is a nice choice as well. One song I am sure they wont play is Benighted- too soft and too slow, and no big payoff.

As for all the others, I'm not even sure its worth speculating, there are so many choices.

Still Life is also my favorite album. I hope they play Face of Melinda and Serenity Painted Death.

Other songs I would love them to include in the setlist are
The Apostle in Triumph
The Twilight is My Robe
Advent
April Ethereal
Epilogue
The Leper Affinity
Still Day Beneath the Sun (one can only wish)
Blackwater Park (again)

2 from each album:

Forest of October
The Twilight is my Robe
Nectar
To bid you Farewell
April Ethereal
Credence
Moonlapse Vertigo
The Moor
The Funeral Portrait
The Leper Affinity
Wreath
Deliverance
Windowpane
To Rid the Disease
Ghost of Perdition
Isolation Years

Sounds good to me.

say what you will, speculation is fun.

I'm most curious to hear what they will play from Morningrise. That was my first Opeth album (back in 98 yo) and while not necessarily my favorite, it is one I have a special connection to.

While I'm hoping for BRI, that is a long ass song and I don't know that they'll make room for it. More likely Advent and/or The Night and the Silent Water - good tunes both. To Bid You Farewell is a little too repetitive and I don't see Mikael and Peter going back to that one..

i hope they play a 2 hour long version of prologue!!!

yeah, they are not coming to mexico so i couldnt care less!

yes i'm bitter!

its definatly either advent or nectar...either or would be sweet...i just hope they play twilight is my robe...ugh i love that song lol

I have a feeling that they WILL do Black Rose Immortal this time....they know that everyone wants to hear it live, and since this is a special occasion.......but then again i could just be a homo

Selecting the tracks for an Opeth set-list is a difficult task; the very nature and beauty of Opeth lie in their albums when consumed as a whole, aside from the fact that there are so many beautiful tracks that choosing a mere few is nigh impossible. Below is my choice for a ~ 180 minute show (of course the order and pace may need tweaking, and I’ll probably prefer other tracks tomorrow, but this is would be an excellent set-list tonight – it seems my favorite Opeth songs fluctuate with time and the different phases melt together and evolve – perhaps this mimics the very essence of Opeth themselves?

Orchid:
“Silhouette”
“The Twilight is My Robe”
“Requiem”

Morningrise:
“Advent”
“To Bid You Farewell”

My Arms, Your Hearse:
“When”
“The Amen Corner”
“Demon of the Fall” (more appropriately used as encore, IMO)

Still Life:
“Godhead’s Lament”
“Face of Melinda”
“Serenity Painted Death”

Blackwater Park:
“Bleak”
“Dirge for November”
“Patterns in the Ivy II”

Deliverance:
“Wreath”
“A Fair Judgment”
“Master’s Apprentice”
“Deliverance” (more appropriately used as encore, IMO)

Damnation:
“Windowpane”
“In My Time of Need”
“Closure”

Ghost Reveries:
“Beneath the Mire”
“Reverie/Harlequin Forest”
“Hours of Wealth”

Songs I think might be likely:

The Twilight Is My Robe or The Apostle In Triumph (not both)
Advent and/or To Bid You Farewell
When
Demon Of The Fall
The Moor
Moonlapse Vertigo(?)
The Drapery Falls
BwP
Deliverance
Wreath(?)
Closure
The Grand Conjuration
Harlequin Forest (?)
Ghost Of Perdition.

Actually, that's very unlikely, but they say they will be playing some stuff they haven't before, and those are the ones I think are most likely...

Dude, the guy who posted above - BLACK ROSE IMMORTAL, I'm sure, may be 100% in. I'm going crazy just thinking about it. Songs that have NEVER been played before??? Um, yeah, BRI - an opus of a song like this for an occasion such as this one? I think the show would be worth it for this song alone.

For the longest time, it was my fave. Not anymore, but it's still in the top 10 for sure. Anyway, it is a seated show - what better way to enjoy a show than to soak in all the glory that is BRI? Geez, it'd be perfect as the closing track of the night. The track just has so many moments of sheer "class."

Let's just say, this announcement of past setlists had me almost piss my pants.

Alls I Know is I want to hear ghost of perdition, then I'll be happy. As for black rose imortal... I think that would be a terrible mistake to use 20 minutes on one song. I think instead they should play all their intro songs like madrigal and then the amen corner or requiem and then the apostle in triumph.

Hmm.. I don't know why everyone is so sure about BRI. Simply because they have never played it? Maybe there is a good reason, as the the guy above wrote: ITs really long, even for an Opeth song.
However, perhaps they would shorten it? Is that a crazy thing to do? I know its then a "tainted" and "impure" version but nonetheless....

Anyways, I cant wait for the 23rd
(and In Flames/Trivium in two days)

I hope if they choose to do BRI that it's not a "tainted" version of the song. It would be a HUGE disappointment if they start playing it and it ends up being watered down. It would completely ruin years of anticipation of one day hearing that song live.

these would be my favourites, from each album

The Twilight Is My Robe
In Mist She Was Standing

Advent
To Bid You Farewell

Karma
Credence
+ April Ethereal and When due to MAYH being Opeth's best effort to date.
Godhead's Lament
Moonlapse Vertigo

Dirge For November
Harvest

A Fair Judgment
Masters Apprentices

Windowpane
Ending Credits

Baying Of The Hounds
Ghost Of Perdition

Nice K1000's, is that you? You post at Head-Fi?
-----
Anywho...

I'm pretty sure they'll be including:
The Baying Of The Hounds
When
Deliverance
In My Time Of Need
To Rid The Disease
The Drapery Falls
The Grand Conjuration
Face Of Melinda
Blackwater Park
Demon Of The Fall

The rest is speculation until NYC. I wonder if they'll play a few different songs at each of the Observation dates.
