As a follow on,

I wasn't given much to work with in regards to drums/bass/guitars in that the guitars were fizzy, muddy as fuck, the drum mics contained mush and the bass seemingly had the lowend rolled off before it hit the tape.

That said, the traditional insturments were beautifully micd and were a pleasure to work with.

any criticism?

Oh aye, no mastering done whatever except voxengo elephant with no GR or anything, just acting as a "If you go past 0db i'll kill you" thing.

I think that you should rely more on samples for the drums, given that the original drums are not good. Btw, could you post a short clip with just the guitars with no processing?

guitars sound like they're fighting in the mix when the "traditional instruments" (dont know which ones they are, so thats what i'll call 'em) come in... a little muddy, if i may say...

I'm not quite sure the kick sample fits the mix... but that might just be preference.

Vox might be 1dB or so too loud for the mix... also might be preference...

sounds good otherwise...

Other instrumentation used

tin whistle (Not used cause the file was corrupt, getting resent).

Bodhran

Mandolin

fiddle

other various forms of percussion

not too bad overall

the snare kinda bugs me tho, maybe just in relation to the kick...you've got this huge sounding snare with a good bit of low end, and the kick sounds kinda weak underneath it

the mellow section sounds very nice
