What if one of your favorite bands announced a member or all members were homosexual ??? I'm sure some might of had this dilemma with Priest.

Would you still support the band ? Would it change your interest in them at all ?

I'm sure there are many of them in the Metal scene who remain in the closet.

Personally I would still support their music. IMO a certain frontman in the ProgMetal genre (MJK ???) may swing both ways...Also in NuMetal (Disturbed ???) well I guess they are obviously gay.

In America people's tolerance of homosexuals has changed dramatically in recent years. Gay Venue's are popping up in towns all over. Gay theme's are all over the tube. A Gay movie was the buzz at this years Academy Awards. Homosexuals are now part of the mainstream, but has this opinion infiltrated the metal scene ??? Would it change your opinion of a great musician ???

Chuck Schuldiner was gay, but people still seemed to love Death and thought they were geniuses and whatnot.

It should not make a difference whatsoever. People are people regardless of their sexuality. Did Rob Halford's career suffer as a result of him coming out? Nope! Which is how it should be. Talent and the love of the music should always come before a member's personal life.

I don't care, personally. I think it's weird when you listen to Priest songs and Rob Halford is singing about a chick... that's a bit distracting, knowing he's gay. But it affects me about as much as whether or not the musician dislikes pork.

But, if all their songs were, like, about being gay... count me out. As someone said in a different thread (the supremacist thread, maybe?) when music is too much about the message, it startes to suck because people neglect the musicality.

You'll find in most Priest songs there aren't references to the subject's sex so it may well be about a man.

Sexuality doesn't matter. Not in music, not in life. I would almost be pleased if a band announced they were gay, but only pleased because they had the courage to do it in a world chock-full of bonehead homophobes :)

It's never bothered me in any other kind of music, so it would never bother me in metal, Jake Shears is a camp as line of pink tents but i still think Scissor Sisters kick. Or Elton John or Boy George for example? A great artist is a great artist regardless of sexuality.

But if Mikeal shaved his hair back and just had a little 70's porn 'tache...i'd probably be more encouraged to listen to Opeth lol.

Hmm, this is pretty stupid. I listen to Queen and Priest, because I like their lyrics and music, not because of their sexuality, end of story.

hahahahahahahahahahahaha

1. At pretending to not know Halford is gay.

or

2. At not knowing Halford is gay.

What straight man would make a career out finding excuses to wear tight leather and use his upper vocal range?
