hey guys...this is the first time i've recorded anything (and i've only been playing for 13 months or so), so check out these files and let me know what you think -

if those links don't work, you can also listen here - http://www.myspace.com/theawakeningfl

mostly, i'm curious as to what you all think of the snare sound - we tried to use Gavin Harrison's sound on Deadwing/In Absentia as a reference point.

I play a Sonor S-Class Pro kit, so that helped get us in the ballpark pretty quickly, and we had an excellent cache of microphones -
Neumann KM 183 and 184s
Sennheiser MD421s
Shure SM57s
Audiotechnica AT30301s
Audix i5

looking forward to some feedback guys, let me know how we can change this - we're in the final stages of the mixing process.

I'd write the thing about BAN-missiles on my radar but I feel it's been used already. So please, read the rules or F.O.A.D

right, and that'd be directed at someone purely trying to generate interest in his/her band....

i'm honestly looking for feedback about the drum sounds. which i believe i mentioned several times

I just listened to 'prodigal' and I think the drums sound great man. The snare sounds real good, just like Harrisons imo.

Ok... so anyway I'm sure you'll say I'm being a dick but whatever. The proper place to put this is called, "Post your band info/music recordings here" not because it's only for band info. I am going to move this later but I don't want to split hairs with you. The place has been specified and I need that guideline to be followed.

The drums sound great!

samsara: no critique, just curious... what is the point of that rule and why is it so important? it seems to annoy people alot, is it just because you think it's annoying or is it to keep stuff organized? and would it be that unorganized if there was no separated thread for own stuff?

no worries, man! i understand, and it's fine that you move it, although that subforum seems to generate far less traffic than the others.

Hm. This is really funny. The drums sounds good, but that's not what I wanted to point out here.

In the Prodigal Sample 2, there is a pattern that is nearly exactly the same as in the first part of Meshuggah's album Catch 33.

Can anyone please listen and verify this? It REALLY is almost the same pattern (in the beginning of the riff)

Otherwise, the music/sound is really great, loving it :D

Regards,
DAvid LIngdell.
