At 7:25 into the song that IS a violin right?
I was just wondering, its a really awesome and unique sound.

I've heard that they didn't use other instruments than guitar, bass and drums before MAYH's epilogue. I dunno, it sounds like violin to me as well.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it is a guitar effect. I've heard one thats nearly identical to it on an Ibanez effects pedal.

it REALLY IS a guitar effect, no doubt about it!

it's the same sound you hear in black rose immortal, and maybe somewhere else in orchid.

anyway, that's a guitar that sounds that way. NO VIOLINS!

Have you listened to MetallicA's My Friend Of Misery? The slow part just before the solo... It's called "violing" if I'm correct.. and it is a guitar effect...

It's just a guitar effect that gives it like no attack. I've seen Petrucci use it a bunch live.
