I'm fine.. my car is not. The lesson I learned: When a small car rear-ends a jacked up Ford F350, the small car usually looses.

The weird part - the truck took off from the scene even tho I hit them!

:cry:Oooof, so sorry about this!

So, would this still be considered a hit and run then, even though the guy who was hit did the running?? Strange. He must've had some issues to worry about besides damages like maybe it was a stolen vehicle or there were drugs involved or something crazy like that. o_O Who knows.

Glad you are okay Hobbes! :saint:

So you rear ended a guy, and he took off? Thats good news! That means that you could have owed lots of money and your insurance could have gone up. So you can obviously look at this as the glass half full instead of half empty. I suggest you make up a great story for the insurance company how this was someone else's fault who hit and ran. Maybe someone back up into you while you were parked or something. Maybe you can get some money to fix it. Be careful not to let the rates go up though.

Naw it would be wrong to do that.. besides like you said I only have to pay for my half of damages, which is nice :) As for the rest - a police report was filed and there was a witness.

Thats fine if you dont want to do it, but insurance companies rip off people all the time. Wrong? I mean if you add up all the money you've given them over the years...

Thanks for all the kind words :)

Spoke to my insurance person tonight she said they probably arn't going to total it...so I'll probably have it back in a week or two. My lord, what a pain.

Is it fixable? It looks like you need a lot of body work done. Its gonna be thousands. Maybe you should get a new car? Is any of the engine block damaged?

Hehe I used to sell cars at Honda of Santa Monica at one point in my life. CRAZY JOB!

Well the entire front of the car looks to be plastic, its designed to crumple for safety.

New bumper, radiator, front grill, headlights and Bonnet......sorry Hood. re-spray. It aint gonna be cheap, but if the value of the vehicle is stil high then its kinda worth it.

probably about £3000 roughly $6000 worth of damage.

Car is worth about $16k so like your estimate, Time :) Acujer: oh hell no. One thing I don't do is text or type when driving. And I wasn't on the phone at the time either.

Annoying it is!

I'm basing it on UK prices guys.

over here 45% of that price will be the labour charge the parts are fairly cheap. But the US traditionally is cheaper than Europe for most things.

Either way if the car is worth $16000 then i guess its worth fixing, depending on whether theres any damage to the engine block. Looking at the impact it would be all top half the lower bumper took almost no damage. Looks like a bonnet peel back and the usual slight damage ot the crumple zone at the front of the vehicle.

For reference, i just paid £100 ($200) for two rear shock absorbers and coil springs on an opel Vectra. Now I need to fit them :(
Also need to do the rear brake pipes and the front to rear pipes, which wont be good to get at and I've been quoted $400 to have them done.

glad you're OK hobbes, yer car looks pretty bad.
i had the same thing happen to me on a motorcycle. we figured the guy didn't have insurance, or maybe even no licence, so i didn't have to pay for the other car's damage cuz the 1st guy left even tho he got hit.:loco:
