There was, it was their official forum as well, unlike this one. Last year Mikael closed it down for good. Why, might you ask, same reason as there is no official IF forum except the one on Jesterhead. Too much retards out there that destroy for everyone =)

Not sure if anyone has heard of Byzantine. I think they have pretty unique vocals (screams and cleans). I'm not really in an analyze-it-all-and-tell-you-exactly-why-I-like-it kind of mood, so just one sentence will do. Also, I didn't spend too much time picking songs to display their talent but I don't think it matters because I haven't heard a bad, filler song from them.



I really like the changing chorus in this song.



I really like the riffs and drumming here, especially during the chorus.



I like the big change from heavy to soft/slow (or whatever you want to call it) about halfway through I guess.

They said in advance that it is going to be a pair (in some way) to Damnation. Clean vocals only, basicaly a prog rock record. So they already did a pure rock album before, no surprises really.
I personally like the new album, even though I listened through it only twice so far.

And the new Insomnium song kicks ass, which should go without saying
