True. The thing that bothers most Australians about it is they don't assimilate, we've often been described as a melting pot but they aren't melting in, they're solid chunks in the broth.

We don't have a policy that they have to become citizens or even need to learn English so they turn sections of our cities into their country. :bah:

You don't have your location in your profile, where you from?

Canada.
The government pushes for multiculturalism, so it's no wonder that people aren't making an effort to even somewhat fit in with the existing population here. They even decided that members of the RCMP (our national police force) should be allowed to wear turbans if they're muslim instead of wearing the traditional uniforms to ceremonies and such. Quite honestly, I think that's disgusting but as soon as there's some mention of racial discrimination, the powers that be just seem to cave to whatever demands are made.

Because you are wanting people to "fit in" to a lifestyle completely created by immigrants. Should the original European settlers have all made the special effort to "fit in" to the societies that were already here? No, because you'd be living in a tent and wiping your ass with pine needles (or asking people for spare change to buy your next liter of gasoline, hiyo). They also shouldn't be forced to learn the local language. Not understanding them is a minor inconvenience to you, but I can only assume not being able to communicate to anyone outside of your family would be much worse than being inconvenienced. Its not like we're running out of room in this country or anything.

Its not so much to people just "caving" to avoid racial discrimination...its that its just a fucking hat...and most people without sticks in their ass don't really give a shit. When you think RCMP you think Cop with a red coat on a horse. No one cares about the hat.

Edit: Adorable pup :O

I'm talking about the people who come here and make no effort what-so-ever to learn english, or find a job or do anything productive. They're happy to collect government aid and do nothing to improve themselves.
I don't give a shit about communicating with most people, because quite honestly, I just don't care. (And that's a general statement, I'm not even talking about immigrants.) Why shouldn't people learn the local majority language? If you plan on becoming a part of the society, it only makes sense to learn the language. That goes for anyone moving to any other country for any significant length of time. Locals appreciate you and respect you much more if you at least make an attempt to learn the language and integrate. Coming to another country and trying to be impose your beliefs on others or thinking you're going to change policies because they don't align with parts of your belief system is disrespectful to everyone else around you who has found a way to adapt.

As for the RCMP hat, it's as much a part of the uniform as the red jacket, and there are quite a few people (like it or not) who do care. The RCMP are somewhat of a traditional symbol of Canada and a country should be able to retain some of it's traditional symbols without changing them due to pressure from a segment of society. If you want to be a part of an institution such as the military, or police you should be prepared to wear the uniform instead of trying to change it. Many occupations and workplaces have dress codes, and if you can't deal with that, don't work there.

It may be a matter of different opinions, but I don't see why having plenty of room means that we have to fill it. It's nice to have open space that isn't filled with people or completely polluted.

Cops can already wear turbans... I see it all the time in Toronto. It's fucking LOL but who cares, fuck the police anyways.

If you don't want to deal with brown people then move away from Toronto, Montreal or any major area as they tend to go to those places. Canada is a bunch of cities about 100,000 people strong with a few big cities spread around. You can escape them easily. You make bad points but I feel the same as you so I won't call you on it :p

Ir simply avoid the main section in town they congregate into. I don't like art-fags, I don't go to the street in town with like 20 art galleries. For someone with a deep, profound passion for art, I truly hate the people that make it.

Undefined: The city police are somewhat different in their policy than the RCMP, which might have something to do with turbans being less of an issue than with the RCMP. I haven't compared the actual dress code policies, but I suspect part of the issue might be somewhere in there.

As for moving away from the large cities, I agree that it's relatively easy to do. (Although it sometimes becomes difficult to find a good job, depending what field you're in.) I live in a medium size city, and even here there's been a massive influx of foreign people seeking various things in the last ten years. I just don't see the point of having to fill all of the open space we have, no matter what kind of argument is made in favor of it. It's nice to have room to breathe and a place to live where you don't have to fight through crowds of people just to go about daily activities. :p

"All the open space we have"

Like Canada is EVER going to be overcrowded, lol.

We don't have curry munchers, but we have a lot of Chinese. I don't mind them, they're hardworking, at least attempt to learn our language (mostly failing, hilariously), and they're comic relief.
