ALLééé PARISSS
ALLééé PARISSSS

:D

Yeah, I watched some of the game on Eurosport yesterday. Nice game, always good to watch a derby match... PSG is not doing very well the past few years though...

Oh, come on. It doesn't have to do with distance. I thought that PSG and Marseille have a huge rivalry in France. You know like Liverpool and Man Utd or Barcelona and Real Madrid... That's why these matches are always a big deal in France...

You are right Sol !
PSG-OM is 'THE French Derby' despite the distance.
And the match was brilliant tho PSG has been a poor team for some years now ... :( They played good football on saturday :)
Good time will come back again and supporters will always be there :)

'huge' is still an euphemism to describe this rivalry. supporters from both camps really HATE EACH OTHER TO DEATH ,which is really stupid I admit. It lead to tragic incidents in the past few years but things have been calming down the last 2 or 3 PSG-OM I went to. Better this way.
In all honesty, I always saw the OM supporters starting the troubles first...

Yeah well, that's because most big rivalries are between teams in the same city but that's not always the case. For instance there is no other big team in Paris so... :)

well, the thing is that i remember watching a tv program about footie and they were saying a derby is like two team from the same town playing against each other. that's why i was wondering.

indeed , but maybe next year there will be Creteil in League1 , it's a parisian team and they are just behind the first three league2 leaders... they can climb up to ligue1 at the end of the year !
And There is Viry-Chatillon in National ( League3) , my hometown where I've been leaving since i am born. 3rd biggest parisian team. They are doing bad in League 3 so they cant expect to reach League1 before at least season 2005-2006 but who knows ... miracles happen. For the moment I hope they'll stay in League3 and climb next season.
:)

indeed the orignal expression is used for a confrontation between two teams from the same city/region but the term has been extended to any confrontation between two teams that have great rivalry : PSG-OM for instance. I think Real Madrid-Barcelona FC can be called a derby. Juventus-Milano also ... I would personnaly call it a derby

but the most evil derby in italy is Lazio - AS Roma
and its a real derby! with girls, knives, bats, and bombs the Italian way :)

lets post a thread "the anathema board thinks opeth are wankers"... We'll be arguing for months...
